So Cal
Weekly whining about how weak the PAC 10 defenses are and how that somehow translates in to a Texas win over USC.

ASU's horrendous defense has as much importance to the SC game as does Colorado's horrendous offense. I don't think anyone with handicapping expertise would expect a one sided game under any circumstances. Some people are simply demonstrating their love or hate for Texas/USC. You can't handicap teams by what USC did in week 2 or what Texas did in week 11, etc. At least that is my thought, but I am no expert nor do I claim to be one.

That's fine I just don't think anyone should base there play off of look what so and so did to this team.

BUT...........does'nt it show how from top to bottom how weak the Pac 10 is defensively??? Maybe it has nothing to due with how Texas matches up with USC but I think its fairly easy to see how USC scored at will on these PAC 10 teams........

You think the Big 12 is any better?

I sure couldnt see teams like Iowa State, Kansas, Tex Tech etc giving up 40 points to Rutgers at home............Hell even Colorado held a decent Clemson team in check most of the day today..............

Could you??????

Whos you, I didn't realize I was a Pac -10 team. The only team you mentioned with even a decent offense is TT, how would they beat a pac-10 team if they can't score? again it's a who gives a shit game I hope texas does beat sc, but I'm sure as hell not all that impressed by who texas has played

So Cal
Until they change the rules so that the team scoring the most points DOES NOT win, why all the concern about weak PAC 10 defenses?

Exactly! So if Texas can hold them in the high 20's to low 30's they may have a shot.

Didn't Texas Tech carve up CAL's defense last year? Didn't CAL defense play well against USC's offense @USC?

Teams play USC differently. Teams put everything they got into playing USC. They did this prior to USC being dominate and even more so now. Same with ND. ND gets EVERYONE's best shot. Same with USC.

USC D 3 straight years given up ton of yards and pts to pac 10 teams. 3 straight years USC defense dominated BCS competition. Those 3 BCS teams USC D dominated had HIGH POWERED OFFENSES that most in the country would have ranked top 3 or top 5 in the country! IOWA, MICHIGAN, and OU. Those offenses were not complex and easy to gameplan compared to Pac 10 offenses. Also USC had 4 weeks to prepare and "finally" throw everything on the field. Most teams throw everything they got at USC during regular season. USC can't do the same. (or chooses NOT too)

How many wheel routes has Reggie Bush ran this year from RB position? I will guess 5-8 times all year. All 5-8 times he was WIDE OPEN! You think you will see Reggie Bush wheel routes against Texas? When USC needed big play against FSU in 4th quarter when USC was LOSING they did Bush wheel route and worked. Why? Cuz FSU has barely seen it on USC film all year USC set them up. USC late 4th against ND ran a Bush wheel route, he was WIDE OPEN but Leinart was either sacked or didn't see him. I forgot. That play was designed for crucial moment. Something defenses can't prepare for because USC doesn't run it often. Against OU last year USC unleashed all their best plays and all worked magically. OU had NONE of it on film. OU offense last year didn't insert anything new that USC D didn't see on film. That is what USC players said. OU mentality was we line up and run our offense and it will work. We got superior athletes. THAT IS TEXAS MENTALITY TOO! You can see it in players quotes etc. That has been Mack Brown football. Line up across and see who wins.

Carroll after each week says their opponent changed their offense or added new wrinkles. Changed defense scheme. Why? TO TRY AND UPSET USC but you can't do that every week. But you can do that against USC and add BUNCH of new stuff. Throw the kitchen sink at USC in hopes of UPSET. Look at how teams do after playing USC. FSU was a mess. ASU lost. Teams usually collapse. Why? They throw everything they got at USC. Good reason to bet against UCLA in bowl game. :)
