just wondering what box and one and others thought about this. played in a x-mas tourney last night and we hit 3 out of 4 free throws for the game. other team hit 27 out of 38. we lost by 8 points. i'm usually not one to blame the refs but this was tough to watch. i did not have a technical but probably looking back should have made sure i got one. this is the worst discrepency in fouls i believe i've ever heard of. there were no intentional fouls or any of that stuff. we were pressing at the end and not trying to foul but every time we got within reach of a player it was a foul. also, there were several other questionable calls that went the other way. what should i, as the coach, do in this situation? i felt helpless and i started talking to the officials in the 3rd quarter updating them on the foul count.

That is a screwin, no doubt. Without question you should have gotten thrown out of the game. Your players are probably wondering if you have their back, thats ridiculous.

Was it a holiday tourney the home teams tourney?Was it refs from your league or section.Do you see these guys again.Do you play man defense and they play zone. Are you guys smaller,do you press,etc,etc
Things like that.It has happened to all of us as coaches over the yrs. Do you film the games.If so look at the tape.Count how many times you think they called a foul when they shouldn't of.Some teams philosphy are going to get more fouls then othersjust by there style of play.
I knew every ref in our area.I could tell my kids they are going to let us play tonite or becareful.."they call it tight".
I lost two state championship games and scored more FG's then the other teams in those games.I lost on both,my poor FT% and the other team going to the line a lot more.
The game is over.You can't do anything about the results.It's frustrating but you need to keep on going. Good luck.

thanks guys, just been a couple of really frustrating days. i appreciate the advice & accept the fact that we got it put up our behind. just wished i would have done something. oh well, life goes on!

Tout my biggest worry if I were you would be what does my team think of me. Seriously, I would have issues playing for a coach that didnt "take" up for us. They need to know you have their back and will stand up for them. Just my opinion, good luck!

I agree, i have a friend(two-much) that coaches high school baseball and have seen him fly off the handle in order to stick up for his team....
sometimes its a just a good idea to stir things up to get the team in the game and put some energy into the crowd.

i let the refs know on several occasions that i thought they were doing a poor job. i'm not one to curse in front of my players, i did everything but curse them. i think they felt like they had done enough damage and didn't give me a technical. i don't think my boys think i don't have their back, they know i would go to war for them!
