For some reason my computer was crashing during the loading or at the start of numerous small sit-n-go's at a Poker Site.

To alleviate the problem, I deleted the software to get a fresh install to see if there were any issues there as I had already run Norton's Systemwork to no avail, but I am unable to download the software anymore, every time I hit download it always refreshes the page, and that's it.... I can't even click on "live support" and get that opened anymore. (Yes pop-up blockers have been either uninstalled or deactivated.)

This has me baffled and I have run several utility programs, such as ASHAMPOO Winoptimizer Platinum 3, Tune-up Utilities 2006, Registry Fix, Norton SystemWorks 2005... etc.

I d have ME edition for Windows, which automatically screws me, but haven't had the time or desire to upgrade as of yet, as too much info on this computer and not enough time to go through the process.

As a side note I have been getting frequent erros and the damned blue screen and have not been able to identify a fix for those. Mostly happens when video's are plying or starting. WIndows Media player was deleted form my sytem around awhile back due to issues, but then reinstalled, but still cannot get it to work in a web page. You know where some funy vids are posted it plays on the site, well for me, the play button shows up, the volume, but that is it, nothing else happens. I have to dl the program to the computer then open it up.

Here is one of the errors I hapned to have written down:

VMPCD (01) + 0000061C
Error : OD : 0028 : C00582C8

Any suggestions are more than appreciated!!!

Thanks, and Happy New Year!!!

PS: As a side note on my VB 3.5 Gold forum, I am no longer able to show the shoutbox, it just states loading, and when producing a post, the tags are not available to me, they are not clickable anymore??? Can't bold, underline, or anything unless I type the code? ANy more ideas??

Sounds like you might look into doing a system restore back a week or so to see if that helps. You should also make sure you have all the latest patches and driver updates.

VMPCD is a Windoze virtual device driver. these vxd's are notorious for getting corrupted.
Yah may have to replace it with the original copy which came with teh ME system disk. You can extract it from the system disk and replace it with the corruupt one.

Insert a Windows ME Startup disk, and then restart your computer to a command prompt.

Select Start computer with CD-ROM support.
Note the drive letter assigned to your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
Insert the Windows ME CD-ROM into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
At the command prompt, type C:, and then press ENTER.
Type CD\Windows\System, and then press ENTER.
Type Rename VMPCD.VXD VMPCD.OLD, and then press ENTER.
Type Ext, and then press ENTER.

At the Please enter the path to the Windows CAB files (a:) message, type drive:\winME (where drive is the drive letter that you noted in step 2), and then press ENTER. For example:
E:\winME

Yah may have to search for the right directory if this is an OEM disk

If yah have an OEM installation of Windows, the CAB files may also be located in the following folder:
C:\WINDOWS\Options\Cabs

At the Please enter the name(s) of the files(s) you want to extract message, type VMPCD.VXD, and then press ENTER.

At the Please enter the path to extract to ("Enter" for current directory) message, type C:\Windows\System, and then press ENTER.

At the Is this okay? (y/n) message, type y, and then press ENTER.

The file is extracted.
Remove the Windows ME Startup disk, and then restart the computer.

KMA-

Thanks again for the advice... since I couldn't find the box with the ME cd, and micorsoft and it's junk of a databse for answers didn't help... I got turned onto a program called Aida32, that provided me with a very detailed list of my computers drivers, numbers, etc., and it kinda showed me that the Intel Chipset drivers were the originals and I should look at updating them...

So onto the intel website, and I find my Intel? 815 Chipset Family, and then download the drivers for it... believe it or not it is working so far. No issues.... kepe the fingers crosse and thank you!

Happy New Year!
