NE lost to Miami on purpose. They did not want to play Pitt first round. Even though they recently own the Steelers, NE did not want to mess with a Pitt team with revenge on their mind. Remember when Philly owned TB and TB spanked them and won it all. NE also knows that its biggest problem this year is Harrison being out and the secondary is shaky at times. Yes they could afford to lose Ty Law last SB, but Harrison is much more important than Law. If you watch playoff football, you know that Harrison is an animal enforcer-type that is everywhere on the field. That being said, they wanted to meet Jax first round. Jax has a decent run game but its passing game is poor and Leftwich will be rusty. NE is going to win this one going away. Jax does not match up well with NE.

Not disagreeing with your post Diz, but would like to hear why Jax doesn't match up well against N.E. I don't think they would lose their last game intentionally just to think they match up better against another team. I think it would have been benificial beating a pretty hot miami team to build momentum going into the playoffs. I think Harrison is a key injury for them this year and the talent of the rest of the field is a little better than last.

My thinking would be it would be better to play Pitt early than later in the playoffs for all the marbles.

Not sure if NE would lose intentionally to avoid a team. If they did that I would say they may be in trouble with Jags

So Cal
Anyone else remember Atlantas shivering effort on MNF in Chicago? This is a night game, temperature with wind chill in the teens. The temperature will be just another blow to Jax.

NE wins easily....probably the easiest winner this weekend.

NE, Pit, NYG.....but TB-Was not as clear.

The Pats are loved by all off there past years.I really dont think they are the Pats of old not even close actually. The Jags lack the offense but they can bang with anyone in the league on the defensive side of the ball. The jags are ranked 6th overall in total defense, and they are 6th against the pass. The strength of the pats on offense is the pass.I see this being a tough grind it out game. The jags will come to play.

Found this interesting read at NFL.com by Gil Brandt

" FYI, the Jaguars are 2-0 the last two years in games played when the temperature is below freezing."

"Ironically, the last team to beat New England in the playoffs was the Jaguars -- in 1998."
