OK, have the HD set up. However, ABC does not have an "all" HD channel in the area. The lady at the cable company told me if I set the channel to 16:9 ration then I would pick it up in HD since the game is being broadcast in HD on the regular ABC Channel... I have it set to that, but it doesn't look any different. Anyone know of something else I need to do?

Hahaha...that's funny. She has no clue. Your TV probably has a stretch mode that will fill the screen to 16:9, but if she thinks that that is HD.... That's just a stretched version of an SD signal. Widescreen but everyone will look fat and the picture will appear blurry on the edges.

If the cable company does not offer ABC-HD, call your local ABC affiliate and find out if they broadcast over-the-air HD. (I am pretty sure almost all but the very smallest markets do now). If you live within about 100 miles of their transmitter, and you don't mind spending a few bucks (like, likely under $30), you can get an HD signal over the air for any LOCAL station that broadcasts in HD that is every bit as good as what would be on cable. (That is, you can get CBS/NBC/ABC/FOX/whatever locals broadcast in HD, but you won't get ESPN or Discovery or anything like that.

1) Call the stations and find out what UHF channel numbers they broadcast HD on. It will be a different channel number than their regular broadcasts. If you have a local channel, say they are Channel 9 and the receptionist tells you they are on Channel 9 for HD, she doesn't understand your question. Get her to put you through to someone who knows about HD.

2) I don't usually recommend Radio Shack to anyone, but in this case I would say go to Radio Shack and buy an indoor Channel Master antenna (only because more modern stores likely don't still carry these old-style TV antennas). It's old technology but it actually works PERFECTLY for HD. You won't lose any quality whatsoever so long as you live close enough to the transmitters. It's really quite amazing. These antennas are cheap and good.

3) Hook up your antenna to your TV and tune to the UHF channel number the station gave you, and there you go.

Thanks GM, wish I would have known there was no ABC HD channel here when I first talked with them before they set it up, I would have still gotten it. However, they told me ABC, NBC, CBS were all in HD...

I hate being lied to after being on the phone for THIRTY minutes..
