all atheletes who turn down guaranteed money are stupid. if he really wants a degree he can get it later. no job out of college will pay close to a signing bonus. he would have to work 20 years to get what he will get as a bonus.
you can say love of the game all you want and school pride, but in my mind you are an idiot if you don't take the money. all that can happen is your stock can drop or you can suffer an injury and never get paid.
