I was shoooockkked at how bad these guys were.

How can a team like USC not have some decent guys on defense..........these guys were terrible.........

I was trying to think if I even ever saw a defensive lineman make a solo tackle........

Linemen suck, linebackers seem slow and cant tackle and secondary cant tackle or cover........

Bot6tom line is you give up 41 points at home in a championship game and cant hoid a 12 pt lead with 6 minutes to go.........you deserve to lose............

but his whole excuse for usc's defense (you know, the "that's what carroll wants them to do. give up a lot of yards and then stop them with no points") is bullshit. trojans were soft as shit, especially on the drive that cut the lead from 12 to 5. they didnt even make texas work for the touchdown. if they make texas take a few minutes off the clock, then usc's final drive (the one that ultimately ended on 4th/short) ends up sealing the game because they got a first down or two that could have drained the clock. for a national title-caliber team to sit back and be so soft when they were up 12 was ridiculous, and inexcusable by carroll.

ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR SO CALLED GENIUS COACH IS A FORMER DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR.........I AM BEGINNING TO WONDER IF THE GUY CAN EVEN EVALUATE DEFENSIVE TALENT BECAUSE IF YOU LOOK AT THE PLAYERS USC PUT OUT THERE TONIGHT AND REALLY EVEN THE WHOLE SEASON THESE GUYS CANT PLAY........I dont know how many times I watched tonight when the outside guys would lose containment and let Young or the running backs go outside them........

Now I am no defensive genius like Petey Boy but I can sure as hell tell you when you are playing a running QB like Vick, Young, Cunningham etc the worst thing you can do is give them the outside......

cmon guys, Pete carrol is a great Defensive mind. He has proved it in most of his games and againsta good oklahoma team.

Vince Young is just that good. What do you want him to do, did you guys see the DB hit vince young in the backfeild and young stood up and threw it away. That was insane. If thats Leinhart, Keith would have been muttering something about "can Leinhart come back after taking such a hit?"

Carrol only has so much to work with, alot of his players were young. no one battled for texas respect as much as me but give carrol his dues. He is a great coach, but SC just has a bad defense

Maverick I didntsay USC D is anything but average and many times said they are down right bad, but I was just defending Carrol.

I do agree with recruiting though, how do you not land insane talent by saying you can live in sunny california and play on a legendary team and you will start cause we are terrible at this position?

Absolutely right. Nobody's "D" was going to stop that guy tonight.

Vince Young breaks down the discipline of the defense, then shreads them for points.

On the last score, he took the snap, juked left a couple of steps, and faked the entire "D" out of the play! They all shifted over to their right, and he took them on their left, and simply outran every defender from the 20 ydl to the goal!!!

Who was going to stop him tonight? An NFL "D" maybe, but I doubt it.

what about the Heisman trophy jinx ?....these guys had a double Heisman Trophy jinx riding on them tonight......I had a buddy who bet USC because " they've got two Heisman trophy winners ".....I tried to tell him that's not a reason to bet USC.........it's two reasons to bet against them

I didn't read all the posts because I am tired and going to go to bed and cry. JUST KIDDING! :mj07:

But slamming USC D is like taking away what Texas accomplished. Right?

USC played poorly on D. I have not watched game on TV yet but from what I saw USC LB's SUCKED! USC DB's played below average. DL was ok but not great pass rush. USC rush D was fine. Young made USC look bad. REAL BAD on D.

Then again, I predicted Texas to score 27 and they had 26pts with less than 10min. in 4th. I was close. USC D couldn't get it done in those last 10min. Although USC easily had their opportunities but missed out.

But did Young make USC D look bad because YOung is so great? Bush has made great defenses look bad. Same with Leinart.

Tonight I got to finally experience what opposing teams have experienced for 4 straight years playing USC. NEVER has 1 player done this damage to a USC D before. VINCE YOUNG is the first and I will guess the last.

Texas D stopped USC 2 inches late 4th. 2 freaking inches. That was the only time Texas D stopped USC in 2h. Texas D wasn't all impressive in 1h either. Especially with Bush giving them the ball. :mj07:

I think the Texas O and USC O are just damn good offenses. USC doesn't have a Vince Young that makes a D look stupid.

If you think about it, USC and Texas each could have scored over 60 tonight with better execution. NO SPECIAL TEAMS TD's or even BIG special teams plays. Which is more amazing.

Props to Texas for playing 4 quarters of football. Not many teams can do that against USC. I have a lot of respect for Texas. I also liked Mack Brown press conf. Good man. I just don't like him whining but I might look past it now.

usc's defense on the scoring drive that cut the lead from 12 to 5 was pathetic. absolutely pathetic. if usc makes texas burn any sort of time, then the trojans get the ball back needing one first down to end the game. instead, they let texas gash them so quickly to cut the lead from 12 to 5 that usc moved the ball all the way to the texas 40 and there was still enough time for texas to get a stop, get the ball back, and win the game.

I think Vince Young had a lot to with it. He is a special player. I knew he was phenomenal athlete but now I put him at higher level. Glad I was able to see him play live. Texas doing no huddle was great and USC D was gassed chasing Young. Carroll said Texas O went to another level when they were forced in passing downs. That allowed Young to run. Basically USC going up 11 put Texas into an offense that made them deadly.
