Listen, Herm is a presence in the locker room. Players like him-want to play for him as was evidence by the sorry ass Jets squad buried by injuries. The key is hiring solid as. coaches that won't screw w/the Offense (language, terminology or otherwise) because you may lose Roaf & Shields who are not going to jack around w/some circus learning some new BS scheme by a clown like Pauk Hackett.
They should back Herm up w/Norv Turner as O.C. who is familiar w/the scheme. However, if I was Norv, I would sit on my ass and ride out the deal I signed w/Big Al. I think he would void his contract if he took an asst. coaching role w/other team? KC may be able to come close on the $$ and the vendetta may be large enough for Norv to want to stick it in Davis' ass. Don't get me wrong I like Al Davis. He never gets the credit he deserves for his role in making this league what it is- probably because he is a jackass in a FILA suit. That is why he is great.
Herm will be the best Head Coach option for the Chiefs, but he must have the right people around him. Gunther Cunningham should remain as D coordinator and be allowed to bring his crew in. He was dealing w/Vermeil panzy asst.'s all year. He brings his boyz in; this D should be in top half of league. My $.02- KC perspective,
P.S. Good Luck Jets on your new head coach.......alot O' options out there.
