i am i the only one who think vince young will not be a good pro. If he ran just like he did last night against a pro defense he would not of had the day he had. He can't throw the ball farther than 30 yards. I just think pro defenses will track him do and tackle him. Pros will not miss tackles and leave huge gaps for him to run 50 yards. I just think he would be better as a WR. I dont' think much of him as a pro qb. A great college qb, and one of the better gamebreakers in college.
any thoughts?

Texans shoudl draft Young and get a mid to late 1st rounder and 2nd-3rd rounder for Carr

Many teams would readily make this deal as Carr should be ready to step into a good situation (i.e. Dallas) and have a good deal of success

Houston with Young at QB would not be a better situation for either team.

1st pick for a RB is a waste

well, they just gave carr a contract extension - not sure if there is a "no trade" clause there or not.

While I agree there are times when a team can find a serviceable running back through free agency or waiver wire and draft, very rarely do you find one of Bush's talent level.......anywhere.

That being said, I do believe that this years draft will be running back rich and the opportunity for Houston to trade for a pick in the teens plus say a second round and two thirds and the first round next year, would give them a much better team and chance to succeed in upcoming seasons. That and maybe more will certainly be the asking price and would give Houston the ability to draft a running back in this years draft that can take some of the offensive pressure on Carr. There are many teams out there that may consider themselves one superstar like Bush away from winning a Super Bowl and will sacrifice picks.

I think Tennessee ends up with Young.

Honestly Elvis, I don't think they will have the opportunity for Leinhart, I think the Aint's take him with the second pick with Bush going first. I also think that Young is the best fit in Tennessee as he drastically improves their offense in the running game as well as a large tough body under center. Its a qb type that Tenn is used to and comfortable with. JMHO

Titans are taking Jay Cutler from Vanderbilt. I just don't think Vince Young is that great of a passer. Yeah, so what he can run. So can Michael Vick but thats about it. I agree that Vince Young is a hell of an athlete but think Jay Cutler fits the Titans system better. Steve McNair will not be around much longer, at best two years. Why is there so much hype about Reggie Bush? I know the guy is a great running back. If I had my choice, I would take Lendale White. At least this guy can run between the tackles. Just don't think Reggie Bush will be that impressive in the NFL unless he gets behind a good offensive line. I may be wrong but we'll see.

Texans have big problems.

1. They have no o-line

2. Davis is a nice back, yet injury prone

3. Bush is a huge talent, but he is not an every down back and wont be

4. Casserley is still GM, he aint dumping Carr and admitting failure

5. Young may or may not be a great QB in NFL - either way it will take time.

6. PR just today is huge to take Young.

7. They have tried spending on FA (offered a mint last year to Pace) - they just cant get them.

MY guess - they draft Bush. I think they should trade down. But then again that would be more picks for Casserley to screw up.

Ronnie-- I like Cutler, but they bette not take him at the third pick. That would be almost as big of a mistake as taking Pacman last year so early. If they want Cutler, then they should trade down because he will be available a little later.

McNair for two more? No way that happens. One more season at best, imo.

More importantly, who are the Titans going to take at #3!!!

I wish Pacman Jones was in the draft again, so we could choose him one more time. :cursin:

Amen, brother Dawg... I couldn't believe they picked Adam.... (I refuse to call him by his nickname.) I'd really like to see them trade up and try to get Reggie Bush just so i can go to the games with my newly prepared signage for television....

If I a going to have one of the consensus top three picks for the Titans it is Leinart. Our run game is not in bad shape, and I don't think Young will work out as well as people think. He's not as good as Michael Vick, and we can see where the Falcons are with him.

I think I would prefer just to trade down and get Cutler as Ronnie mentioned.

The Titans GM, Floyd Reese, does not like to take local talent. He has said before if all other factors are equal, he would take the player from another state above a local college kid. He believes that the pressure for a local kid to perform is unjustified and unattainable.

Once pressed about drafting Tyrone Calico (WR from MTSU about 30min East of Nashville) he said that there was just too much value and he was an ideal fit for the team at that time.

The Titans Offense is not the same under Chow as it was under Mike Heimerdinger (who is now with the jets). McNair is an ideal QB under the old regime. Lienart (or Cutler) is a better fit than Young in the new system (Chows system).

I thought that the "management" (if you can call them that) were pretty high on Volek? Personally, i like Volek, but think that Cutler and Lienart will both be a great young QB's. I just wish Steve Mac would just go ahead and call is quits.... :cursin:

...and I wouldn't take Vince Young either. He might work well as a QB in college, but probably not so well in the NFL. Just MHO. :)

1. (Texans will not be able to trade) BUSH- Makes Dom Davis the new L. White and they will have some cash to beef up thier lines via free agency.
2. (Saints) YOUNG - This is a pure guess (maybe a bit hopeful) since they don't even have a head coach in place. The Saints will need the more moblie of the two as they do not have the other pieces in place to support a pocket passer.
3. (Titans) Lienart - Norm Chow. The Titans of 2005/06 are not the same squad that made the superbowl run years ago. They are the youngest team in the NFL and are looking to make a serious move towards the playoffs in the 07 season. Look for one last ride with McNair and a well excuted switch to Lienart as the team finally walks out of the salary cap hell that they expirenced in 05/06. Titans make the playoffs in 07 or Fisher gets the axe and they rethink the entire organization.

The team has soured on Volek this year. His poor performance in 05 and his retainment of D. Rosenhaus as his agent give Billy a low pocket pair with a flop of A-A-K.

I would not be surprised if McNair moves on (either to Miami or the couch) and Billy Volek is asked to take to snaps in 06. Think about it...it is much easier to bench Volek and replace him with the "future leader of the team" than it would be to bench McNair for a rookie. The Titans have always been sensitive about PR and they would rather not bench their "face of the franchise" in order to move forward.

McNair is asking for too much money. His agent is beginning to speak openly about Steve going to the Dolphins. I think there is little that would make the Titans brass happier than for McNair to land elsewhere. Remember how well that worked out for Eddie George?

Vanbasten- Always value your opinion, but dont you think Leinart would have been better off coming out last year? Coming off the Heisman and a National Championship. I felt like his lack of mobility and arm strength have really been exposed but I could be way off.

agent,

i think he took a big chance not coming out last year, but i think his performance this year has only solidified his potential. to boot, he got another year to be the big man on campus at a major school in south cal.~ wouldn't we all love to have one of those years back now :)

imo, his second half performance the other night was exceptional and his USC career is almost as good, or as good as any college qb before him.to some teams; depending on their needs, he is more appealling than VY, and vice versa. regardless, they will still be the 1 and 2nd QB's taken in the draft, and he'll still make huge $$$.

i think his vision and reads make up for lack of mobility, and think his arm strength is better than people think.

sorry i got off topic a little. it's been a good thread. interesting reads from people in certain regions and their perspectives on who the texans should draft, etc.

most interesting thing i either read here, or heard on sports radio is the persepctive of a saints fan, who doesn't want VY. feels too much in the mold of a brooks, and more interesting that the nfc south teams have prepared defensively for a Running QB ~ ala michael vick.
