Loyola-Maryland -2.5

Niagara has dominated this series for years, but things are beginning to change, thanks in part to the University of Maryland program. That's where second-year Greyhound coach Jimmy Patsos served for 13 years as an assistant prior to heading up the Loyola program. Last year, he helped the Greyhounds accomplish many feats, including snapping a 39-game road losing streak. Oh yeah, the Greyhounds also whipped the Purple Eagles by eight points last seaosn at Reitz Arena. expect a similar outcome tonight.

Patsos has the Greyhounds playing well (8-3) thanks in part to a pair of former Terrapins. First there is Andre Collins (26.9 ppg), who has topped 30 points in three straight games and is second in the counrty in scoring. Then there's Hassa Fofana, who has averaged 13 points and 7.3 rebounds since becoming eligible four games ago. With these two former Maryland players leading the way, the Greyhounds are only going to get better and better.

Niagara coach Joe Mihalich admits his team is a work in progress. And who could argue consider he has just one senior and nine total players. The Purple Eagles have registered the scoreboard win just once since Nov. 21 and are on slides of 1-7 SU and 1-5 ATS following a recent 16-point setback to Troy on a neutral court.

Niagara doesn't shoot well (less than 40 percent from the field, barely 30 percent from behind the stripe). Meanwhile, the Greyhounds are connecting on 49 percent of their shots. Patsos is pleased with his team's effort so far, but he won't let them relax. Remember, he was on the bench when the Terps won their 2002 national title. He knows what it takes to win, and his Greyhounds will win and cover tonight.

2-1 SU 0-1 ATS @ home this year. I took it since Niagra hasn't been impressive this year, UM has the two MD transfers and is trucking along, it is a conference game and UM is coming off a loss and coming on to their home court.
