Going by my preseason power numbers the panthers should have been a 4 point choice in this game. Before the Giants season started I had them pegged anywhere from 7-9 to 9-7. They overachieved. The Panthers on the other end I had pegged between 11-5 and 13-3. They underachieved bigtime. The question is this. If both teams play their best game who wins? Well Carolina's offense has not played well most of the year, but this Giant Defense is banged up and Carolina should be able to run, The Giants will have to double Steve Smith as they have noone who can cover him one on one.
On Defense the Panthers should benefit from a conservative gameplan from Giant coaches who will try to keep Eli upright as much as possible. Look for tiki to get his yards but at some point the giants will fall behind in this fashion and Eli will have to throw it. Peppers and company will be looking for the knockout.
Usually at playoff time the young QB and team that was not expected to get here show that they are a year away. This is one of those days.
