i got satellite radio about 2+ years ago because i lived in the sticks and didn't have any other choice. now that i live in an area with many, many radio stations to listen to, i only listen to my XM radio.

NFL on satellite radio? you can have it. Stern on satellite, you can have it, BUT.........i own SIRI stock as i think it's a good investment for the future.
I jumped on the SIRIS stock as soon as Stern said he was moving to satellite radio...I've been happy so far

Well thats the thing, I think it depends on WHAT you listen to. If you are a Stern fan and want the NFL on the radio, then Sirius is definitely for you. But for me, I dont leave the house on Sundays during NFL season, so why would I need it on the radio, and I'm just not a Stern fan. But MLB I would listen to all the time, and I used to love listening to Bob Edwards. So I think they give you enough choices to pick between the two. Personally I wouldnt be surprised 5 years down the line to see them merge. I dont think 5-7M customers per is going to satisfy them for long - but merging and offering all the content from one company would be huge. Just a thought, I have no basis for that though.

I agree with a merge and haven't thought about that. That stock would be phenomenal if those two company merge.

One reason I still keep a TV in the apartment with just basic cable or air broadcast is so I can flip channels rapidly. It's a lost art.
:slomo

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! I have kept standard cable TV for that very reason.

I can't stand the wait when flipping digital cable or satellite channels. My family thinks I'm nuts.

I don't think you will see a merger between Sirius and XM (anytime in the next 50 years at least). They co-exist quite nicely. Very similar to DirecTV and Dish Network.

I think ace has it right, and it is why I think Sirius is going to win the short-term battle. They are much more concentrated on getting the best content. Most content will only hit a certain percentage of people. But the more content you add, the more percentages you add.

On the delay in digital cable. When I had it, it just changed how I surfed. I never flipped channels. I only surfed the bottom menu while watching a show then flipped when I found something of interest.

Pretty funny how people's tv habits are similar.

its for reasons like this that i dumped my sirius stock at $7.20. i've owned sirius radio for well over a yr. now and would recommend it to anyone. i think sirius and xm are basically identical except for the sports packages. i think sirius is the standout there. having said all of this i think xm is the better stock now. i will be a buyer of sirius stock if it falls back to the $5 level. now i'm big into xm stock and will be waiting to get upper 30's there and then sell.

sirius or xm, regardless, they aren't going away. i know sirius has 3M+ listeners now. increase mostly due to Stern.

sat. radio is not going away. that 3M will be 30M by 2010.

i have stock in it and don't plan on selling for a lonnng time. if you bought it based on stern for a quick profit, you won't get much. if you hold for the lonnng run, you should do just fine.
