What is your take on this Wash/Seattle game? At first thought I was thinking Seattle -9 was too many points to lay but after reading Clem's post I have to agree with him...You had some good input on this team before and I just wondering what you're thinking about this game

Let me start by saying that Clem is a much better handicapper than me, so you may very well be better off taking his advice. And I also have been a Seahawks fan my entire life so I've kind of been conditioned to believe that they will find a way to blow it if they can. Hey, it's their tradition! By the way I'm not playing this one. I rarely play the Seahawks and if I do it's usually betting against them on the road. They're a lousy road team but a phenomenal home team.

Anyway, this is what I see for the game. Although I know the Skins D is banged up I just don't see Seattle rolling up a ton of points. I'm thinking 24-27 points. The Skins have a much better run D than pass D and I think they will be keying on Alexander. He won't be shut down, but I don't think he will have a huge day either. I do think, however, that Hasselbeck will have a big day. The Skins secondary isn't great and they are also banged up. And while others may disagree, I think Hasselbeck is a very underrated QB. This is just a hunch, but I think Jurevicius will have a big game. He's been a nice surprise for the Hawks and Hasselbeck has used him in a lot of "jump ball" situations. He's quite a bit taller than the Skins secondary and I think they will utilize that. He's back to being a third receiver with Jackson back in the fold but Jackson has been very ineffective since coming back from the injury. Engram is a great third down receiver and will probably get 5-6 catches as well.

On the other side of the ball I think the Skins will put up some points too. Not because their O is great, but because Seattle's D is pretty poor. Their D line is pretty good and they have had 2 rookies step up huge at LB (Tatupu and Hill), but their secondary is pretty bad. Trufant is supposed to be their best corner, but he is very average. I'm pretty sure Dyson won't be playing due to his injury so that leaves Herndon as the other starting CB. That's scary. He's BELOW average. Ken Hamlin was their best player in the secondary and he's out for the year. Boulware is a pretty good safety but seems to have taken a step back from his rookie season last year. Babineaux is a backup who is now forced to start, and is a definite liability. I assume Washington will try to open up the passing game with the run. I think this will be somewhat effective. Portis should be able to hit his gaps and I expect him to finish with at or near 100 yards. As for the passing game, how on earth will they stop Moss? He should be able to abuse either Trufant or Herndon. If they bracket him and are somehow able to limit him, I expect that will open up the underneath routes. Which means a STEADY dose of Chris Cooley. I've been saying this for weeks now, Chris Cooley is the best TE nobody talks about. The guy can play.

So after writing this novel I expect it to be a 24 or 27-20 game in favor of the Seahawks. Remember though, this is just an opinion. I don't feel strongly enough to put money on it. And like I said before, the Seahawks are a completely different team at home. Good luck to you whichever way you go...

Thanks for the insight...this game is a tough one to call with the points...You and Clem calling for Jurevicisu...hmmmm, maybe a prop bet on Jurevicius...let me see what I kind find...I'm not sure which way I am going to go yet...probably shouldn't play it...thanks

Ha! I didn't even catch that in his thread. Who would have thought ol' Joey J. would be mentioned in prop bets at the beginning of the year?! I give him credit, he has had a very good year. I would definitely look at prop bets with Seattle receivers, but Jackson hasn't been playing at full speed so be careful with him. I think I may just look into some prop bets with Cooley!
