Cavaliers vs Lakers (TNT) 10:35 pm Over 194
Now the trends say under the posted price this evening, but I say that's just giving us added value as this total (around 195) is just too low. The last few meetings haven't produced tons of points, but rarely has both Kobe and LeBron been healthy for this matchup. Well, both are tonight and I expect this one to feature highlight roll material galore.
Yes, Kobe scored at least 45 points in four straight games before tallying 41 last night against the Blazers. The big story, though, was L.A.'s total reluctance to play defense here of late. I mean, the frickn' Trailblazers (league-low 87 points per game) dropped 113 on the Lakers last night. In the last five games, L.A. has allowed opponents to shoot at a 47percent clip.
Cleveland doesn't generally bring its defensive A game when it travels. On the highway this season, the Cavs are allowing almost 103 points per game and a sorry 49 percent opponent's shooting. Twice before this season after playing three straight home games, the Cavs went out and played in a game that easily went over. That will be the case tonight, too.
Larry Hughes being out has hurt Cleveland. Offensively, the Cavs have tried to make amends by jacking up tons of three-balls (they hoisted 28 versus the Knicks on Tuesday). If they can make just a decent amount of those bombs, then this one will have no trouble topping this price. L.A. has gone over in 12 of 18 as a chalk this year and this one's going over, too.
