Indianapolis Colts cornerback Nick Harper's wife was jailed Saturday on charges of cutting him with a knife, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.
Danielle Harper, 31, was being held without bond in the Hamilton County Jail on preliminary charges of battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
Nick Harper was listed as questionable for today's AFC divisional playoff game against Pittsburgh. Rookie Marlin Jackson is expected to start in today's game if Harper is unable to play.
Harper was treated for a right knee injury at St.Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, said Sheriff Doug Carter. The police report said Harper was stabbed with a large, straight-bladed filet knife.
A jail employee said Danielle Harper was arrested at 3:27 p.m. Saturday and was booked into the jail between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
Earlier Saturday, Colts spokesman Craig Kelley said Harper had required stitches in his knee following an "accident."
The sheriff, however, said the Harpers had been fighting.
In June, Nick Harper was arrested at the couple's Carmel, Ind., home on a preliminary domestic battery charge and spent the weekend in the county jail. The status of that case could not be immediately determined late Saturday.
Calls to Harper's attorney, Jim Voyles, and his agent, Atlanta-based Hadley Engelhard, were not returned Saturday night.
Harper, from Fort Valley State in Georgia, is in his fifth season with the Colts. He signed as a free agent in 2001.
Harper started 15 of the Colts' 16 regular-season games this season. He was credited with 67 tackles -- 55 solo and 12 assists. He also had three interceptions, 12 passes defended and a fumble recovery.
