In an attempt not to completely hi-jack the other thread I'll respond to this part of your quote here simply because I think you hit the nail on the head.

Steeler fans: relatively savvy, arrogant fans who I really think are a racially biased (since they don't support the realtively black Pirates but do support the relatively white Steelers and the lily white Penguins, by the way no offense intended) but whose football team, in reality, aint won nothing other than the relatively weak AFC north, for 25 years.

Funny, the reason they haven't won anything in 25 years is because the fans are so loyal. Ownership doesn't have to improve the team to sell out games and make money, so they don't, yet the lemming still come out every Sunday.

If the Rooney's got through the Mark Malone/Cliff Stout/Kordell years selling out every game then what makes them think the "faithful" won't continue to show up reguardless of who they run out there?

Why don't the Pirates get the same free pass? I don't think it's a race issue, problem is the baseball season is just too damn long and since we are mathmatically eliminated by March we just don't have the attention span to show up 182 times.

Maybe so. And I'm not saying Pittsburghers, Rothlesburgers or Cheeseburgers for that matter are racists, but there were stories going around several years (or maybe decades) that the reasons western Pennsylvannians didn't support the Pirates as much as the Steelers (especially in the late 70's with Stargell, Parker et al) when both teams were on the top was because one had some stars who were white (Bradshaw, Lambert, Webster et seq) and the other didn't.

God knows, my fair town has been label racist and some of its citizenry deserves that tag. Well anyway. Good luck with the Colts. And if you think I mean that, I have a tower in downtown Paris I'd like to sell you.

Oh yeah. And I do think western PA and northeaster Ohio are primarily football country whereas southwestern Ohio is really baseball. I mean I know I think most Clevelanders and Pittsburghians given the choice, would rather win the Super Bowl than the World Series whereas down here I think the majority would vote for the Series over the Bowl.

In Columbus, they want the BCS championship over either and in Lexington they want to win the Final Four over all else. Kinda neat how within a couple hundred miles the primary sports goals vary. And to think, only a few hundred miles further in Topeka, Kansas, Dr. Freeze annual awaits the winner of the Dick Weber PBA Open Championship to make his year.

Not living in Pittsburgh, I have wondered why the the Pirates get so little support, to the point of possibly losing the franchise a few years ago. They were the first team to field 9 players who, none of which were white. I guess I never thought about your angle Eddie. I'd hate to think that but not living there and hating the Steelers, I don't know. Even when they went to the NCLS in the early 90's, they didn't sell out some of their playoff games. :cursin:

Weasel:

May I call you Weasel? Never intended to portray myself as the spokesperson for the former steel city. Rather just giving my opinion of my many years of observations of the fans of those clad in black and gold yacking up warm icb's in the restrooms of Riverfront, Cinergy and now, Paul Brown Stadium after they have smuggled numerous cans of that crap into southwest Ohio.

In a word, (or several) Steeler fans: mean, no sense of humor. Like University of Kentucky fans, take their team way too seriously. Well, I guess, if thats all you got in life...........

Browns fans: respect yourself. I have never seen so many people as a group do so many down right embarrasing things. I mean throwing hard objects at people isn't funny unless you have the mentality of a 4 year old.

Bengal fans: Try to learn something about football before you go to the game and make a fool of yourself. Know when to cheer and when to boo. If your team has the ball on its own 30 and its 3rd and 14 and Rudi gains 11 yards, its not a good thing. Don't cheer. And one other thing, because your star gets injured it doesn't necesarrily mean it was intentional. I was just as bummed as you were but lets not be big babies and say the Steelers cheated. Next year lets just kick their ass.

Now if everyone could be just like me what a wonderful world this would be.

Sorry PF, too busy working on Palmer v. Von Olhoffen. Don't you just love that jutting jaw though.

Seriously, what do you think the score will be today? Is the game plan to run Parker and Bettis to try and keep it away from Indys offense and thereby keep your secondary on the bench as long as humanly possible.

Maybe you guys should just let Indy score every time they get the ball and just hope Randle El can run it back each time.

Somewhere around 34-17 Indy I would have to guess. The game plan will be just that, run, run, run, but that can't keep the secondary on the bench all game. Honestly, if not for that terrible secondary I think the Steelers would have a chance, but it is what it is.

PF:

May want to hold off on that lawsuit against Cowher. At least for this week anyway. Although some of those fourth down calls were iffy. Also I thought Troy had the immaculate interception.

Anyway, congratulations on what I thought was the impossible. I really thought you guys had no chance at Indy. Hats off to LeBlow for sending the house against Peyton. Seemed to rattle him as he had no time.

Weasel:

Ravens fan, huh. I mean don't you feel geographically challenged in the AFC North. Us hicks in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Pittsburgh kinda share the same weather (although its much balmier down here in the Queen City), same boring downtowns (no soft shell crabs and Chesapeake Bays), and same rivers (although Clevelands catchs on fire every once in awhile).

Don't you think you'd be better off in a division with the Redskins, Eagles and maybe the Panthers. I know there in the NFC but, I often wonder why they don't do a geographical realignment. Why is Dallas in the NFC east?

I'm not sure how to feel after that one. I mean we had it wrapped up with the interception, then felt like fate kicked us in the nuts when some moron in a striped shirt remembers he bet on Indy, then have it wrapped up again when they sack Manning on 4th down, then have Bettis drop the ball, and finally the idiot kicker misses what should be a gimme in the dome.

Mixed feelings, rotten end to a great game.

Congrats.

The end actually made it a great game. Kind of a snoozer until then.

If the Steelers would have lost like that, you would have gotten a small taste of how it feels to be a Browns fan, circa 1985 (huge underdogs to Miami in playoffs, had 21-3 lead, blew 21-3 lead late to lose 24-21), 1986 (the drive), 1987 (the fumble), 1989 (another lost conference championship game lost to Denver), 1990-present (horrible teams, the years in which we actually had one).

You know Matt for a minute there Byner felt like people (other than in Cleveland) were going to forget about him with the sequel "The Fumble II", starring Jerome Bettis.

Got to give Pittsburgh credit though, they outplayed the Colts for 3 quarters and deserved to win the game. Okay, so next week I'm a Denver fan.
