Spyware Problem

Help with SpyWare or Adware

I went away during MLK weekend and had my computer turned off, but the DSL was still connected. Not sure if this had anything to do with anything, but when I turned on my computer after 3 days, I found several pop-ups and my homepage have been hijacked with "http://www. some nonsense bullchit dot com?. Now on the bottom right corner I have a constant flashing red circle with an x in the middle/globe icon. When I double click on that icon, SpywareStrike 2.5 pops up telling me I have 27 threats found. But I have to purchase their software to be able to delete these malicious spyware.

I have tried the free Ad-Aware from LavaSoft and SpyBot Search & Destroy but to no avail. Are there different free softwares out there I can try to get rid of spywares and to get rid of the annoying blinking icon on the bottom right of my screen?

microsoft antispyware is what I run, and I've been very pleased with it.

Hijack This, you run it, copy the list that comes up and email them, it is free and they will explain what to get rid of because it is spyware or adware... Takes a little time, but well worth it.
