UGH....what a freaken DAY this had been
this is the weekend of my daughters state Robotics Tournament in Ames, Iowa (and to say the least the weather in between Davenport and Ames was NOT a pretty sight today)!!!!
Day started out when 2 hours before i was supposed to pick the kids up from school to BEAT the weather, get a call from my dad at the hospital.. he had a spell after his heart rehab, and they took him to the emergency room!! (okay, so i start thinking that this might actually be a good thing) they'll without a doubt admit him for observation, so since we HAVE to be out of town (it's my laptop that the whole team counts on for the programming of their robot) i'd much rather have him in the hospital where there is care nearby rather than at home.
when he called the first time from the ER, he insisted we keep our plans!!! okay, fine, everything set....dad in hospital being watched, we get back tomorrow night and visit....WRONG.... TEN damn minutes before i pick up the kids from school, he calls again, and they turned him loose after the IV got his heartbeat back under control
and
at the same time... just HATE knowin he's home alone tonight
okay now, on to robotics...... considering the horrifying conditions we went thru to get here, only 1 of the 18 team members didn't make it all the way to Ames. They rolled their car about 70 miles away, and he won't make it here for the competition (but thankfully, everyone involved is fine other than shaken up)
every other driver that made the drive today has one horror story or another on things they saw or were almost involved in.
how the hell can it be 58 degrees one day, and conditions like this the next
okay, done bitching momentarily....tomorrow is another day, and if any of these teams WIN, (which they won't) ....i'm gonna SCREAM!!!! no way i'm ready to deal with another 3 months of practice before the Atlanta competition!!!)
