nice work falcon. xavier was dead flat after that rivalry game against cincy. btw- have the vikes turned the corner? all alone in 3rd place in the horizon and have a very "sweepable" 2gm homestand this week (butler and ysu). it would be typical csu for them to lay an egg against on wednesday against butler though. and vegas will probably install the vikes as a short chalk, which has always been death for garland's boys.

Maybe Garland should bring in Omari to give a pep talk this week. I can hear it now, "C'mon guys, don't fcuk things up like I did." We'll find out a lot about the Vikings this week. Might have to make a couple trips downtown if I can fit it in.

Monday picks

Monday picks

Texas/Oklahoma St. under 135--Longhorns have given up more than 60 only once in last 8 games. Texas has a couple of guys banged up so we may not see the offensive show you might expect.

Early Tuesday plays

Early Tuesday plays

Akron +4.5 over Ohio--Zips have a huge week ahead of them starting off with a trip to Athens. 4.5 is too many points to be laying in a game like this. This line should fall to 3 by gametime.

Miami/Kent St. under 125--Redhawks seem to be able to get everyone to play their pace and I don't see that changing here. With the MAC playing three games this week, teams may not be as committed to running the floor.

N. Illinois -4.5 over Toledo--Rockets have been bad on the road and Joplin in lame duck status. I don't expect a great effort after dropping a tough one at home to OU.

nice work with the two early mac games. here's hoping toledo continues to play uninspired ball for the final 10:00 so you can sweep 'em.

looks like vegas is spitting in the face of cleveland state by opening butler as a 5.5/6.0 point favorite tomorrow night. im really shocked by that line. expected one team or the other to be favored by -1.5 or 2 at most.

do you have access tonight to that email that you gave me on your card? wanted to bounce a few thoughts of ya and ask you a few questions re: mac hoops

Early Wednesday picks

Early Wednesday picks

Sparty -1 over Michigan--Big game for the Wolverines as they haven't beaten anyone significant (Miami? ND?) yet. But I don't see it happening against Sparty. MSU has a nice stretch of games coming up (PSU, NW, Purdue) so Izzo doesn't need to worry about the team looking ahead. I also think the total is a little too high but I'm going to wait on it.

Cleveland St. +5.5 over Butler--I'm worried I'm becoming a homer but CSU is playing pretty well right now and Butler has hit a rough stretch, especially on the road. I thought this would be closer to PK type spread so I'll gladly take the points.

Tuesday results: 2-1

N. Illinois blew a 15 point second half lead by letting the Rockets shoot 60% from 3. The icing on the cake was when the Huskies came out of a timeout with 6 guys on the court. It took the officials about 20 seconds to figure it out, probably because NIU still couldn't figure out a way to guard the perimeter.

Early Thursday plays

Early Thursday plays

BGSU/Kent St. under 135.5--BG not exactly an offensive powerhouse and Kent will pound the ball inside all night. This game should be around 125-128.

UWM -5.5 over YSU--UWM still the class of the Horizon and Penguins getting a little too much respect for their ATS record. As long as Humphrey doesn't go off, Panthers will cover the road chalk.

E. Washington/Montana St. over 147--Haven't given up on EWU overs just yet. Last week was an anomaly (you may need dictionary.com for that one) and EWU will be very comfortable going against Montana St. who rarely guards anyone.

Miami/Akron over 122--I don't see Dambrot letting this game be played at Miami's pace. Zips will try to get the ball up the court and avoid getting into a half court game which might be disastrous for them. Big game with both teams coming off Tuesday losses.

I can't believe Sparty gave up the lead in the 2nd half to Big Blue. That is a great win for Amaker, especially without Abram. They host Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon and will surely be a favorite thanks to this win. If it opens around a five-spot, Wisky looks good because Tucker will treat Courtney Sims like Courtney Love.
