Computer Software help

Just got a new computer. Would like your input on software programs to download for it. Browser, utilities, anti-virus etc. I know that there are some great free programs out there, I would like to have the best ones on my computer. Thanks for any help.

avg antivirus
microsoft anti spyware

Bearshare

all of these are free. and i have not had a problem with them. i use bearshare file sharing program to find copies of stuff you have to pay for.
gl, any questions just ask. i'm a novice in computers so these are easy to get.
