I have to believe that those parents that would would prefer their children head north(ala Haskel/Sheehan) rather than serve are a minority--fortunately.

You mean like Dick Cheney's parents? :wall:

Believe it are not there are people that are proud to serve their country--and some families are proud of their children for serving--did you miss what the soilder wrote in his letter home before he died? Just maybe his family respects HIS point of view.

I don't think anyone ever suggested that the soldier's family wasn't proud of him. The posts were addressed to motives of the people who invited them there to have their misery put on TV to improve someone's approval ratings. Bush could have honored this brave young man's death by attending his funeral, or visiting the family in private, but he chose to do it on national televison. What smurphy was saying was that if this soldier was his child or spouse, he would be adverse to being a part of that. Nobody is knocking the troops or their families.

one interesting note on the sheehan thing....maybe two.....

they also threw out a republican congressman`s wife for wearing an "i support the troops" tee shirt....

so,she wasn`t singled out unfairly...

...

Yes, GW, she was singled out unfairly. Sheehan was taken out in handcuffs and arrested. The Republicans wife was simply escorted out. A big difference.

Didn't know Cheney went to Canada to avoid draft?--about as accurate as GW not serving in military-
--of course with Kennedy-Peloski-Reid-Dean-and Kerry as your leaders and liberal blogs your resource for info--one can alwys expect as I referred to in other thread--twisting-spit quotes-half truths or outright lies ect commonly referred to as liberal logic--sometimes I actually believe after you tell itto each other so many times you actually believe its true.

Do you think that there might be remote differnce on backround of the two? na probably not.

interesting discussion how some can accuse admin of embarrising family of fallen soilder and in same breath support Sheehan being there in protesting mode.
If family didn't want to be there or support what their son wrote do you think they would have agreed to it? In facthow do you think GW got the letter in the 1st place???
Hmmm Have the liberal blogs been telling you he intercepted letter (illegal survailence) before parents got it--then forced them to come on during speech :)

stevie...it`s the state of the union address....broadcast across the country....

if she wanted to act like a moron...join the pots and pans crowd out on the lawn....

you don`t hang banners..wear stupid hats....wear political tee shirts...or paint messages on your back.....this wasn`t madison square garden or vegas...

a certain decorum is expected...

if that`s what you want...if you want to degrade the process to the `nth dgree...you might as well post corporate signs and sponsorships all over the room....

""the state of the union address brought to you by nextel"......or trojan condums.....

c`mon...it was a cheap play for attention....meant to be a distraction...a cheap political ploy...

i`ve been kind and respectful to sheehan up to this stunt....and the chavez trip...gave her the benefit of the doubt....

imo...she`s no longer just the mother of a military hero....

she`s a carnival sideshow...

DTB I don't know the background of the Republicans wife. For all I know she has a history of violent protest unlike Ms Sheehan.

GW, Calm down will you. I simply pointed out that she was arrested and the Republicans wife was not. You claimed that they were both treated the same and obviously they were not.

I agree with you Stevie that neither shirt should have been worn and both asked to leave--I do not know Reb's wife either but if she was the attention hog Sheehan is I am sure we would.
There is no doubt Sheehan would have done something to get attention--which the dems that gave her the ticket knew full well.

DTB, I agree that nether shirt should have been worn but just because the Republicans wife wore a shirt that you agree with does not make her any less an attention hog than Sheehan. Why else would either wear the shirts if it wasn't to gather attention?

Cindy Sheehan is an open wound that fester with truth for this President and those who back the way this war on terror has been executed. I have to laugh at the trash in this thread, you people sit and argue over pointless semantics while we as a Nation throw away our greatest resource, the lives of this brave generation. Her son and others have died for her right to protest, any where any place. So what if this President would be embarrassed, He has embarrassed many that truly love our country by the execution of this war. I'm for the war on terror but not this way. Most of the puke in this thread is standard issue rebulican & democrat bull shit. You people are sheep.

Oh another enlighten bleeding heart, you should at least take your head out of your ass long enough to get a reality check.

There are millions of people in this world that want to eradicate us just for being American. We tried appeasing them ala clinton and his regime now we need to eradicate them before they get any more powerful. If you can't understand that then just put your head back up your ass and hope that you don't have to sneeze.

All you do is lecture everybody in here on how we're sheep, suckers, dems/repubs..blah blah blah, yet you haven't posted one original thought, idea or really even an opinion on anything. Just broad generalizations about the posters and the state of the country. We got it the first five times.

Offer a point of view on something and maybe you'll be seen as less of a jackass.

I don't do drugs & I don't fall in line for anyone or any party. I believe that we as Americans from the left and right have to question are own party, because change that matters will always come from the inside, not the opposition. I'm called a bleeding heart because I question this Presidents execution of this war. I understand the threat but there are many on the right that agree with me. Now we know why His father didn't put boots on the ground. Ask George Will ,Pat Buchanan and William F Buckley if they are pleased with this President. There are people in the military that don't agree with the execution of this war. This is not France, and we can't kick the Germans out and turn this Country back over to it's government. There is no end insight and there will never be an end. We have to fight terror with terror. I don't care what anyone says, the lives that we have lost trying to fight this unconventional war with conventional tactics were and are for nothing. If your going to get people killed, make it count.

last time i looked,the jury`s still out,bro...

now is not the time to throw in the towel...unless you ASSUREDLY want those that paid the ultimate price to have died in vain...

you can rail on the legitimacy of the war......legitimate argument.....but,we`re there.....that`s a fact....to pull out immediately reinforces zawahiri`s message that the americans don`t have any will...damages our credibility and encourages terrorists to step it up a notch...

not to mention the fact that it throws iraq into utter kaos and assures mass murder of a magnitude that makes random i.e.d. bombings look like a pilllow fight...

Bryanz we find out if your closer to the truth then many as we approach 06 election. Will be interesting to see if we bring out 20000/30000 troops or closer to 50000/60000. Nothing much will have changed but for some reason it will be OK. I wonder why? As for both parties to tied in to special interest groups. And good at lining there pockets. We all know that but can't seem to find away to stop it. You will find we have many here that like to think independent. But we just never seem to get more of them in office. That answer again is money that does not come there way. It goes to the Reb's and Dem's.

Interesting about Cindy

Cindy Sheehan ... the sob sister protesting the war at Bush's ranch, who lost her son in the war, the same son she gave up in her divorce when he was 7 years old.

And by the way if you wonder why she has so much free time ... she is going through another divorce right now and guess what? She is giving up custody of another son. As Forest Gump once wisely proclaimed, "Stupid is as stupid does."
