Dont fold no matter what. If you dont play, you cant win, similar to the lottery.

Hope that helps

The 65th Square
and

and

in early position only play aa, kk, qq, or ak

with ak if you dont hit a pair on the flop

dont bet or call with it

if you have a small pair in late postion like 5,5 play it if you can get in cheap

if you dont flop a set with a low pair in your hand then get out if betting gets going

good luck

read lee jones 'winning low limit holdem' and ed miller 'small stakes holdem' first; then play some .50 cents/ 1.00 holdem at an online poker site to get a feel for the game, and you'll be off to a good start. Also try and disregard smartasses like agent who have nothing usefull or insightful to say; (you'll run into a ton of people like this at the table).

Play No Limit, any level.

Don't play any hands for one hour, unless it is AA, KK , QQ, or AK.

When 2nd hour comes, play more aggresively and now play/raise preflop with any pair, AJ, AQ, KQ, everyone will think you are a rock and you will recieve value on the 2nd hour hands like if they were AA, KK, QQ, or AK. Just remember to follow up with a half a pot size bet on the flop to make people believe you have the goods. If someone calls or raises then you know your obviously beat, because no one wants to play with a Rocky-Tight player, but with you changiing gears in the 2nd hour, it is a very profitable move.

You don't have to be good in poker for this rule of thumb, just don't be afraid to make that flop bet and most of the time you will scoop that pot with everyone respecting your tight image betting.

i have seen both plays used, hey are both profitable to an extent. I would say if you have a considerable roll go with this play. You have a legit shot to still win the hand even when you are trying to play loose and essentially dump a lil to win alot later.

But if you dont have alot, getting all your money in with big hands and taking down smaller pots wwith big bets is what i would do.
