Why is it so important to make sure that there are no estate taxes, ensuring that people receiving an estate are provided for by the money they are entitled to, while Bush is proposing eliminating the Social Security Death benefit that will ensure that those people entitled to those funds can use them to offset the cost of funerals? It is a paltry amount, in the overall scheme of things - $225 - and could make a big difference to those at lower levels of the economy.

It just amazes me who Bush asks to sacrifice for the good of the budget, and who he continues to assist at the detriment of the same budget.

There are a ton of things to examine with this budget, but this one is truly astounding to me.

Hey - they even changed the wording on it to make sure it gets more support. Estate tax became Death tax. Very smart move on their part. I'm all for a hefty estate tax - nail those asshole spoiled kids. But I'm very much against a death tax - geez, the government won't even let someone die without gouging them.

3 more years of this. Even though I'm free to move about the cabin, I'm still keeping my seatbelt on.

Why do you feel that anyone receiving an estate is an asshole, spoiled kid? Why do you think the government has any right to tax the money again?

If it is as written, I would agree, Chadman, that this is an unfair request. I don't think they should be double taxed either.

My feelings are in between the 2 comments - was just pointing out how different the name change makes it sound.

Getting rid of the Death/Estate tax as proposed by Dubya only aids the wealthy and again jeopardizes a balanced budget. But hey - if that's what yall wanna do - by all means.

By the way, does anybody know any rich kids who aren't assholes?

It's great to be a leftist who does not judge others.

Chadman -- I agree with what you are saying. I don't like the contradictory terms.

relax, dawgpound. i'm not being serious with those comments. if all goes according to my plan, my own kids will be rich.

sounds like we can all agree on this particular contradiction in the budget.

there, back on common ground.

Does your 'plan' include finding a girlfriend first?

And you're not getting any younger, just so ya know.

Maybe there is more to the benefit than I see, I dunno. Maybe the money does not come directly from the account of the deceased, and could be considered an entitlement benefit. I know that would chap some locals here...

At least that one would be a consistent theme for the budget conscious, I guess. But at face value, I don't get it.

Good lord. OK, Mom. ....Hey, I seem to remember you are even older than me by a few weeks. You making any progress? At least I don't take steps backwards getting tied down with psycho chicks. ....I would think that if you took all your lessons learned from SBTB seriously, then you'd see these landmines coming from miles away.

Hey, i'm not the one popping off about kids! Get a date first and THEN start talking about your rich kids.

Psycho chicks that are pretty and wanna do nothing but f*ck can be worth keeping around for a while. However, i'll grant you it might have been a step back in regards to the matrimony timetable(if applicable). And you're correct, that Brazilian stripper you were with on my last trip is surely more stable than my ex.

SBTB has great life lessons, but it can't account for hormones.

I agree that the budget is not equitable.

Did Dubya remember to add something for Iraq and Afghanistan this time?

I don't mean to criticize your choices Kosar. You make very good points. I just try to avoid those psychos in my hometown. That's what travelling is for. ....and I wish that Brazillian was a psycho. What a dud she ended up being.

The wars don't need to be in the budget. When he needs it he'll ask for it.

I didn't take it as a criticism and I try to avoid them also. It doesn't always work out for the best, but at least she didn't slit my throat or anything. She chopped up some of my clothes, but that's about it. Nice gal.

I'm sorry to hear about about the dud stripper. There will be other strippers, my man, don't worry.

No, there is nothing in the budget specifically for the ongoing wars in both countries. That stuff doesn't count, you know, especially when publicizing the claims about working towards cutting the deficit.

I continue to be amazed that this President forges ahead with more tax cuts for the really wealthy at a time of war. I would think the most stringent conservatives would have to realize that no man before this President has been this brazen in his attempts to favor "the haves" in America. Maybe republicans could expect a little more understanding from democrats if the Commander in Chief (who campaigned on bridging gaps) could back off his demands for tax cuts for the select few (and insisting they become permanent) at a time when he maintains our country is at war, and he continues to take money off the table for the less fortunate.

True sacrifice should come from all when we are at war, right? What a joke.

Not if I have anything to say about it. I'm ready for adulthood. Time to put those childhood toys away.

I fail to see why so many hard working Americans continue to defend an administration that favors their bosses so much more than them. There must be some inherant tendency towards masochism for most people. ...A sense that they are undeserving of fair treatment. ....That wealthy folks really are "better" than them, not just richer financially. ...It's gotta be from too much TV.

Sorry Chadman - I see you already posting a similar sentiment. ....about the budget, not Kosar's twisted relationships, that is.
