wasn`t that racially insensitive to black republicans?...reinforcing the uncle tom stereotype?....
heyward...i honestly think theres some basis in fact for what the greek said...as distasteful as it may be...
I don't think the convention remark was that offensive (of course, I'm not a Republican, but I'm trying to put myself in your shoes). There really aren't a lot of brothers at the G.O.P. convention. His comment doesn't say there's anything wrong with Black Republicans, it just implies that there aren't a lot of them. And, as far as I know, there aren't. I don't see anything remotely close to an "Uncle Tom" reference in his statement.
As for the truth of what Jimmy the Greek said, I don't really know. It's possible there's some truth to it, in some cases, but I don't know the history well enough to say either way. And I doubt that sort of genetic selection could account for the huge disparity in the black/white make-up of pro sports. In other countries, sports like football and basketball aren't very important to them. Kids in Nigeria don't have basketball programs at the YMCA, or school, or the local rec center. If you take a bunch of kids from Nigeria, and raise them in New York, Chicago, etc., I wouldn't be surprised in some of those kids excelled at American sports. The excellence of American blacks in sports has a lot to do with culture, I think. Nigerian kids are probably all playing soccer, anyway.
