Updated record:

Big 12: 20-8-1 (14.7 units)
Other: 7-4 (1.3 units)
Total last 40 posts: 27-12-1 (16 units)

Thanks for everyone that posted in my thread yesterday... always love to discuss hoops with those Big 12 lovers... onto the picks...

Iowa St. -5.5 (OSU)
--- Love this one. Has everything I look for in a bet. Motivation, talent, homecourt edge, and value is all on one team, and they are only laying 5.5 points.
ISU needs to win out in the Big 12, and make a major run in the Big 12 tournament to make the NCAA Tournament (they might even need to win the Big 12 Tournament). Also, this line is a little low after OSU destroyed Texas last week. ISU continues to be mediocre at home, only 8-6, but OSU is only 3-5 on the road. Hilton used to be an exruciatingly tough place to play road games, and I continue to wonder why it hasn't been this year.
Regardless, I think ISU is the better team, going against an OSU team that is coming off acentually a perfect game, a cresendo to an abysmal year. The only thing the Pokes are playing for right now is a possible inclusion into the NIT. I think ISU rolls, will be placing 2 units on this one.

Nebraska ML +109 (Col.)
--- Colorado is incredible at home, and a mediocre team on the road, same as has been the case all season. Nebraska is the same, 13-4 at home and 3-5 away from Lincoln. So I will take the home team here, naturally. I don't really have much else to add, most people that read my threads know my opinions on both of these teams.
Today it would probably behoove me to wait on my write-ups, because I expect money to go on CU, and the line might move up a point or two before tip-off. I elected to take the +109 instead of taking the point (which is -101 at Pinny right now for anyone interested). I am going to put a half unit on the ML right now, and before I leave for class tonight put another half unit on whatever the number happens to be.

I am going to take a pass on the UT game. Eerily similar number to last weeks contest when the Horns visited Stillwater, and we all remember how that one turned out :scared . Don't care to be on either side...

Might be back on later to add a play or two from some other conferances just for fun...

Good luck guys!

Been to Hilton Coliseum many times--always a tough palce to play and very unsporstmanlike fans--can't figure it out this year why they are losing there--think ISU 2 guards go nuts tonite-like Moo U also (thats what us Iowa Hakweye fans call Iowa State)-GL

I just think Texas is going to roll the cats tonight after the SHHHHLAACKKING they took. Looks like easy $$$$ and maybe thats what makes me shy to pull the trigger. I am a cat fan, but this should be by 16 - 20 pts easy. Just like when the Hawks return the favor in the Little Apple coming soon.
I am just glad State won in BB before KU did in Foots, never hear the end!!! No disrespect JAHAWK, after al,l it is your thread. LOL

Good luck tonight!!

Thanks for the comments guys...

Hawkeye, thats some funny stuff. I have been to Ames way too many times (I drive through their on my way to and from Minnesota from here) and I know where you guys got Moo U... not much going on in that town, ha ha.

Owl, for precisely those reasons I won't get on that one. It was "easy money" last week at OSU as well. They could easily cover, but I won't willingly step into a potential identical trap. Little Apple, I like that... and yeah, your boys are going to get shellacked in that one... Just one question though... KU beat State in football last year... Or is that not what you meant?

And an update:

The Nebraska line is +1.5. I am going to put a whole unit on that.

One thing that isworrying me... 56% of bets are going on the Cyclones right now, and yet the line has moved down by a point.

Good luck guys, off to H+R Block to have someone else do my taxes for me.

Yes, I meant this year. Not another word about last year, I think I lost $5 to 300 very close friends. They say we are friends now anyway. LOL
I can't just lay off the TEX/CAT tonight, jeeeez, its a BIG 8 game. Going small on Tex and heavy on the OVER 129-. Maybe Tex will get back to shooting the ball like they can, THEY OWE ME!!!

Owl Texas was never a part of the Big 8. They were in the Southwest Conference at the time. A nit picky correction I know, but I thought I would throw that out there.

Hope you didn't put too much on the Horns...

Man they are not playing well right now... will that continue in Austin on Saturday? I doubt it, but that would be great...

Two easy winners tonight... No Big 12 until Saturday though... arggh... Will need some of you other cappers to post some winners tomorrow, I will probably be tagging along for action!

Thanks for the kind words fellas...

Mcity, you need to give me some winners tomorrow... I'm gonna be tailing everyone around here the next couple days while going through Big 12 withdrawal.

Tpaine- I stay in Ames about 6 nights year. It is close to halfway between Lawrence and my hometown in Minnesota... I dont really go out of my hotel room when i am there, and that is with good reason... The town is just dead. I went out to get dinner when I got in one night, it was about midnight, and the streets were deserted... it was like a ghost town... very strange, very unlike Lawrence... I wouldnt necesarily say it would be an awful place to go to college, if you are only there to learn... ha ha...

If you are in Ames next fall, maybe we could meet up and get a beer.

Yea after these picks of yours I think im going to owe you a few beers anyways, lol. Im confused what you mean by deserted...? Is that in the college town around campus or just the city? I dont really know anything about the layout, but there is 20k plus students so the party life cant be that bad, can it?

Paine-

The Hotel I like is a mile from campus. So I would say both. I wanted to see the campus last time I was there and I drove through there late, around 1, and I was the only car in the street (actually I also saw a cop driving around)... This was during finals though, so I guess the students there are devoted to their studies.
The "main street" as far as I can tell contains restaurants like Perkins and McDonalds, and not much else... I dont want to deter you or anything... Kansas definately is not a meca of excitement... and you can always just drink, which makes you oblivious to your surroundings... ha ha... I like Lawrence because I can just hop to Kansas City, which is 30 minutes away, and watch the Royals, Chiefs, or go to the Plaza... you are gonna be out in the middle of nowhere... But like i said, that isnt so bad...

Hope this helps a little...

great work as usual. hope to see your take on conference tourney. did you catch the end of the k state game. refs robbed k state of a chance to win the game when bruckman pushed off on ft rebound. even the announcers caught it. of course down by one with less a minute k state would have probably missed the shot.

Lowell... I did manage to catch the end of that game... and I agree, UT got away with murder... Not sure it would have effected the outcome in the W-L column, but it definately might have... It was going to be near impossible for K. St. to finish off a team like UT after their best player (Martin) had fouled out.

It's kind of a shame, the K. St. program really could have used a win like that... It also would have put the Jayhawks into first place in the Big 12 heading into the big showdown on Saturday...
