I don't post a lot of picks in the hoops forum but these Wazzu lines are getting a bit ridiculous. How on earth are they favored over Stanford?! I admit I was wrong about them getting blown out against Cal because they were actually able to push the number. Cal looked pretty bad in that game though and, even though they looked bad, had numerous chances to break the game wide open but didn't.

Stanford is coming off an ass-kicking to the U-Dub and I have to think they want/need this game a lot more than Wazzu. Stanford may not be the best team in the conference but they are head and shoulders better than Wash. St. Maybe I'm way off-base here and the line is right, but I expected Stanford to be at least a 3 point fave. Then again, I thought Cal would be a 5 or 6 point fave against these jokers.

Grunfeld didn't start against the U because he had the flu. I believe he is better now and will be starting today. I'll take Hernandez, Haryasz and Grunfeld over.... ummmm.... ummmm... Cowgill, Akognon and Lowe? in a bounceback game GETTING a point any day of the week.

Good luck to all!

well.....i'm righ there with you waiting to unload on this game

another one of those, looks to good to be true

BUT

it's dick freaking bennet and wazzu...........i'll take stanford to bounce back in a big way and bet that stanford makes more than 1-10 from the three like cal and they win by dd

plus this give me another reason to watch dick bennet basketball!

Wazzu defends like crazy and just slows the game down to a crawl. I agree that Stanford "should" win this game, but Wazzu "should" have beat Cal on Thursday.

Thanks Thom. Long time no talk! You mean the Cyclones right? Damn, what got into Baylor?! I've been trying to limit my plays lately and it seems to be working a little better. How have you fared so far this year in hoops?

You're completely right. Wazzu defends the hell out of the ball and this should be another exciting game to watch. Well, almost as exciting as watching ice dancing that is. I don't know that Wazzu should have beaten Cal. They had a chance at the end, but I never really felt like Cal was going to lose that game. You're right though, they played Cal tough. I just don't see Stanford losing both Northwest games. I could very well be wrong but this is one of those games that I'll go down blazing if I do!

I agree with everything you said. Wazzu lines always crack me up because you have to stop and think if it might be a trap. But then you realize that Wazzu is so terrible that I don't know how trap lines would even apply to them?!

I love the bounceback situation for Stanford and I love the fact they play smart basketball. Intelligence is something that seems to be lacking in college hoops.

Cal was never in control of that game. Wazzu controlled tempo the entire game and if they could have hit a shot in the first 7 minutes of that game they were winners. Wazzu does not get to the charity stripe enough, one of the things I believe a team that slows it down as much as they do HAS to be able to do. Stanford shot 26 free throws in the last meeting, they will be lucky to shoot 14 tonight.

I have no play on this game, just playing devil's advocate, but I have seen a lot of people burned by Wazzu's ugly style because the line "doesn't make sense"

Maybe it's a matter of semantics. I agree with you that Wazzu controlled the TEMPO of the Cal game, but I never felt like they were IN CONTROL of the game. It seemed like Cal was just a shot or two from breaking it open most of that game. I know exactly what you're saying though. When Wazzu is able to play their style of slowdown basketball some strange things can happen.

One last thing I'll say about the Stanford game... they are tied right now with UA for third place at 9-6. They know that they need to win their remaining games, ESPECIALLY their winnable games from here on out if they want to make the tourney. I'm sure Stanford is assuming UA will win today because they are at home against ASU. Knowing that I think they will put out a great effort today because they don't want to drop even lower in the standings.

I'm out for the day. Good luck again to everyone.

I dunno. I think there could easily be 5 teams from the Pac to get in. If Stanford wins out they would be 12-6 and, I could be wrong here, but I think their RPI is pretty high isn't it? Just my opinion and I could be wrong, but I don't think they're done just yet.

yeah it's high as in the 75 range......think their 3 sses to rpi 150+ is gonna kill them, plus their sos is bad as well

had they seperated themselves into 3rd place in the conf, maybe....but not now......plus they still have the la schools.......3 wins at staples or nit

Ok. I thought they had a better sos. I knew they had a few cupcakes but I thought overall is was decent. Not that matters. They wouldn't do anything in the tourney anyway.
