Miami blows worse, because they are SUPPOSED to be GOOD...

Lakers made the right move - start rebuilding now -instead of three to four years of getting whacked out in the second round of the playoffs.

Riley had to be greasing his hair down good or it would be standin on end....

42% free throw shooting... HA!

O'Neal will have a Laker Uniform on in the Hall - it will be the ONLY place he gets a ring.

I don't agree... in this era of the cap, it will take a bit of time to get back on top - but they will - They won't be under as long as the Celtics or Pistons were (Celtics are)

What is he? The same age as Jordan was when he won his first of six championships?

with a two year gap between for baseball....

He's got a pretty big prime left.

I know a lot of people got the hate's for Kobe, but no one comes to camp in better condition and you have to admit - he has ice in his veins....

Lakers made the right move? Trading one of the greatest centers of all time for a quarter of his value. Signing average players like Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm to contracts twice what anyone else would pay. Making the right move of having a guy like Smush Parker as your starting point guard. The lakers are a mess, but it's amazing how many games they've won. Phil Jackson and Kobe arent getting the credit they really deserve this year.

Miami is supposed to be good and Miami is good, they will be int the conference finals again. Just because they dont cover for you one night after being up a lot at half, doesn't concern their future plans

but thats the greatest ball player ever, michael jordan, i dont think kobe would be as good, or even good as long as MJ. especially when kobe puts up about 30 shots a game. two way different human beings

lakers are the most classy franchise in the history of the association.

although i didn't agree at the time, if they had to get rid of someone, shaq was the guy no matter how much i like him.

lakers looked forward to the future and they will compete again for a title in 2 to 3 years.

kobe has 7 or 8 prime years left.

he's the best player in the nba, i don't care how much you dislike him. i don't think he's a role model and probably a big prick like most nba players.

but jerry buss and for a long time jerry west have always made the right moves for the franchise. kupchack did nothing last year and nothing this year because they had no cap room.

the one thing the little ball hog wanted for his collection was a scoring title. phil came back and told kobe to go nuts this year and get his scoring title because they couldn't under the cap put pieces around him. let him get his title now and worry about winning later when they can put decent players around him.

word is they are gonna get a guy like garnett in the offseason for the middle and lamar odom is playing light years better. if they could get a middle man like that, its only filling in the pieces after that.

kobe may never be better than jordan, but you don't watch basketball if you think he doesn't have the same work ethic or will to win. he plays just as hard on defense, when neither of them had to.

lakers franchise is the best ever in basketball although you could argue the celtics, but they've been dormant for so long and are in utter turmoil now.

you may hate the lakers, but they are a classy franchise and you are fooling yourself if you think they won't spend whatever it takes in 2 years when they have cap room to compete again.

and kobe should be the mvp, which i think he will because if you are awarding the player who means most to his team then its him, again, even if you hate him. they wouldn't win 10 games this season without him. the rest of that team is all role players.

Bleed, while I have to admit that I hate to admit it . . . .

. . . . . point by point, I can not disagree with anything that you said. Kobe is indeed the best player in the game; by far. Also, I do believe that Buss will do whatever it takes to win another string of titles and the addition of a player like Garnett would be a greay stride in that direction.

On the subject of Phillip, soon enough, we will be able to answer the question of how good a coach he really is. Does he have the coaching acumen that it takes to build a team around a player like Kobe and how much "coaching" will he, finally, have to do?

Good post.

BTW ivabign, you're right, I do think the Knicks are bad. They are very bad and if Larry Brown thinks he can coach Francis, well let's just say he's got a better think coming.
