Our phone is over the Internet but not with vonage.

$36 a month every feature you could get on an phone.

The only thing is sometimes the sound quality is not there.

IT'S GREAT IF YOU CALL LONG DISTANCE A LOT.Our phone bill was over $100 a month with SBC without all the features we have now.

Thanks Guys!

Vinnie: Do you live in the US??

The ad says $19.99 for the first 6 months, then $24.99 after.

All long distance free, free caller ID, free 3 way calling, free *69, etc etc

How does your other phones hook up? We have a phone in our bedroom, kitchen, office, 1 in each spare bedroom, and one by the pool. How do these hook up??

Thanks again!

We tried them for a week but they will not work (or at least not always) with Tivo, so we had to send it back. Cant justify saving $30 a month if our two $1k HD Tivos wouldnt work - had to do with the analog modem callling our through a digital line. Tried every trick in the book to no avail.

Vonage box hooks up to your cable modem so basically the connection looks like:

Cable Modem->Vonage Box->Phone

We had a wireless phone hooked into it and two seperate base stations plugged in around the house, this is one of the more popular ways to run it. However I will say, the sound quality was not that great, sounded like a staticy cell phone most times.

I think this can be resolved by using a wireless network to connect to Tivo

I hooked up my neighbor's Vonage about a year ago, and they are pretty pleased. My wife and I don't have a home phone (just cells), but we tried to start with Vonage ofr her business upstairs. They wre AWFUL to deal with customer service-wise. Overall, it is a great deal compared to Ma Bell.

Now my preference is Skype. This is the only phone line that our outside sales people have now. We are a completely virtual compan, so everyone works from their home and on the road. We have been using Skype for over two years to talk to international clients, but we have recently (within last 6 months) started using SkypeIN/OUT which is their paid service.

Basics of Skype:
--Free if both parties have Skype
--You can use you computer's mic and speakers or an external phone
--If you have laptop, you basically can have your base phone with you at all times
--IN/OUT is no monthly fee and $0.02 per minute. this is how you accept incoming calls and make outgoing calls to non-Skype numbers
--conference calls and video calls are of very high quality

Overall, Skype has been a better service from my experience.

Also check out: www.packet8.net and (there's another good one but I am forgetting the name. will try and post later)

One gets hooked up through your cable to a modem like cable Internet the rest stay as they are now

It cant actually. Maybe the Series 2 Tivos (cable) have hot USB ports but Directv built the HR10-250 without activating its USB ports.

The phone jacks become dead though there are ways around this. You can take an RG11 phone cord run from your Vonage output box to the input box on the exterior of your house for whoever the local phone company is/was. You then plugin your Vonage line where their line is plugged in from the street. Its not for the faint of heart but I have seen it done a couple of times.

This is how I had to hook my neighbor's house up because his modem was in an area of the house where his cordless would not pick up throughout the house.

It wasn't a hard task. Maybe a medium level of handiness is needed.

Thanks again. So the rest of the phones STAY plugged into the phone jacks?????

all phones have to go through the router they supply you. i have a wireless system, so i plug the base of phone into router, than i place the other phones in their cradle throughout the house.

if you get the service and like it, you get a free months service for every subscriber you sign up.
