my god, what an incredibly favorable draw. the tourney committee found a way to pair them up in the same opening weekend bracket with the only teams that might be less athletic than they are. southern illinois? iowa? this on the heels of creighton and texas tech on the opening weekend last weekend.

incredible opening weekend draw for the mounties. just goes to show how vital a good draw is for some teams.

They will shoot the Salukis right out of the gym and most likely won't be laying much in the process with the infatuation with the Missouri Valley Conference. Pitt & KSU will be fun, Buckeyes got a great draw after a loss, and the Air Force choice is a mind blower.

They will be lucky to get past S Illinois, and if they do they won't score 50 points against the Hawkeyes...so if they aren't gonna get bounced the 1st weekend, they had better plan on only giving up 49 to Iowa...Iowa wins that game by double digits...

Very strange bracket...Texas has already played Duke, Iowa and West Virginia, and AM in same region too. Big 12 and ACC only get 4 teams, so why do you put 2 from each in the same bracket?

dont get me wrong redsfann, wvu losing to siu wouldnt even be a surprise. im just amazed that the mounties got an incredibly favorable draw 2 years in a row. wvu/siu could be a 'first one to 50 wins' kind of game. regardless, wvu fans shouldnt be making extended stay plans at any hotels

they lose to horns at sweet 16

not if they dont learn to defend the 3 again.
teams that shoot the 3 well will beat them.
KU today, Tenn, Duke, etc. too many wide open looks.

last I checked they already beat West Virginia, and didnt play well in that game either....WVa just cant handle Tucker or Aldridge...but yea any team firing on 3s is dangerous

I am looking forward to taking advantage of the country's hard one for the Missouri Valley Conference. They have nice teams, but don't have the size or athleticism overall to get as much praise as they have received over the past month. These are lines to watch in my opinion.

You were the first person I thought of when I saw their draw..... :mj07:

WVU might get that revenge game versus Texas.

Yea...WVU doesn't play against any competition all year long.

Revenge baby.

I was at the first meeting between WV and Texas. WV gave that game away. WV will hang tight with ANY team in the nation. Redsfann, to say Iowa will beat WV by DD is ridiculous. I'll be more than happy to take the 10 or more when they meet!

...and they proved it with victories versus:

#1 seed Villanova (on the road)
#2 seed UCLA (on the road)
#6 seed Oklahoma (on the road)
#7 seed Georgetown (twice)
#5 seed Pitt
#7 seed Marquette (by 20)

Not exactly Kent State or Toledo...but, I'll live with it.

gman is so aganst WV it is hilarious. if we really get him worked up he might tel us how he hangs out with gansey and his dad and they play poker together and he loves WV.

I initally had WV losing to iowa and i think I might stick with it, cause iowa is playing really good right now, and even though WV can kill them with the 3, IOWA will score every time downlow on them.
IOWA has momentum too. but that should be a good game

Both teams played good Non conference schedules but also played some patsies as well. More so texas than WVU.

Acer69,

I'm pretty sure I'm the one that will be grabbing 2-4 points when the Hawkeyes and Mountaineers play on Sunday. But I won't need them, so I'll have a small wager + the points and a much larger one on the ML. assuming W.V. gets past S Illinois, which will not be an easy task.

gman2,

thanks for the clarification. I read it as they couldn't possibly get beat, thus my reply. If there is a team in the tourney this season that has a sure win in round 2, let me know and I'll put some $$ on them...:mj07:
