I just go in and missed the selection show while driving back from the beach.

Can someone give me a logical explanation as to how Tenessee got the #2 seed instead of Carolina? I'm trying to look at this without my carolina blue shades on.

They've lost 4 of their last 6 games, including losing in the first round of the SEC tournament to SC. UNC has been red hot, beat duke at cameron, and lost to very good BC team that should have beaten duke today (who also got robbed w/ the 4 seed IMO).

I'm not so much arguing that UNC deserves the 2 seed, but moreso questioning how Tenn of all teams takes it from them. Was it just a factor of not having 2 NC teams in Greensboro? Ratface K lobbied early in the season for there being only 1 team in NC for Greensboro. As always he gets his way.

i agree. tenn has no business being a 2 seed. although i believe michigan st. sucks, no. carolina definitely didnt luck out by drawing a tom izzo coached team in the 2nd round.

commented on their earlier in another thread somewhere. im a bit surprised the vols got the 2 seed, but theyre not completely undeserving. tennessee's problem is that they took their foot off the gas after they clinched the sec east. when the games actually meant something to them, they were steamrolling that conference. it certainly doesnt look good that they 'let up' once the games had less importance, but the vols resume is pretty good. theres no doubt they could prove themselves worthy of the seed when its all said and done. pearl wont let them come into the dance unprepared.

The whole thing is strange. How is UCLa not only a 2, but the top ranked 2?

Nevada a 5 - good Lord.

For some teams it is like they quit paying attention 2 weeks ago, others I am not sure they paid attention at all.

The Mo Valley gets 4, but not the second place team with the highest RPI? Air Force? Utah State - was that just a make up for last year?

I think UNC is a 3 seed. Could have gone either 2 or 3. If they beat BC, prob. would have gotten the 2.

But, yeah, I don't know how Tenn gets a 2. I also don't know how you can leave Florida St. out. 9-7 in ACC. Give me a break.

FSU and Michigan don't get in, but Air Force does. Thats pretty weak.

they win their conference & dominate the conference tournament blowing teams away. how much more can they do when you include all the injuries they had this season? they are so young that most felt that next year would be their year...
look at your state's team and be happy they got what they got, cuz they won't go far with that bench!

Illinois got screwed with a 4 seed in my opinion. They were the second best team in the big ten and did not have pre conferance loss. They even beat your Tar Heels at UNC. They were penalized for losing to Michigan St in the Big Ten Tourny which is stupid because they beat MSU two times already this year. It's hard enough to beat a good team twice in one year, let alone 3 times, especially with the last game being back to back.

I am surprised though that Tennessee and UCLA got 2 seeds. That came out of no where.

Our bench isn't that bad? Quentin thomas and ginyard have been playing much better.

Coming from a PAC-10 fan? Lmao.

Read my post. I didn't say we deserved the 2 seed. I question why tenn got it and not someone else.

I posted that exact statement to avoid mooks like you posting follow-up posts. I guess I should have known better.

I am thrilled with my state's team and I am happy with what they got. It's been more satisfying than last year's championship season. Do you think your coach could have done it w/ that roster? I don't think so. I hope the rest of the teams underestimate them. Carolina is definitely not good enough to make a championship run by they are good enough for the 16 or 8.

I had to read the post a few times. Kind of confusing, but I think he is replying to SunTzu referring to Texas and responding to his take on UCLA's 2-seed.
Carolina goes about 9 deep.

ucla won their conference and the tourney. they play solid defense. i'm not sure how you knew they were the top ranked #2? where is that info obtained?
i know they rank the top 4 teams but i thought after that it was more of a placement of teams due to conferences and locality and such.

no beef with them as a 2...i think they could have been a 3, but bumped to a 2 to fit in the west..oops...Oakland division.

the tourney committee has 7 of 10 members from the "smaller conferences" so i think it makes sense that we didnt see the #9 big east team (6-10 their last 16) or the #7 big10 school (3-7 their last 10)...both of whom got bounced in round 1 of their conference tourney......and instead see some top schools from other conferences.

i think missouri state is being punished for changing their name from Southwest Missouri St....i liked the abbreviation SMS. but i think they had the biggest beef. unfortunately they didnt play well in the conf tourney and they got bounced.

nevada shoulda been a 6 seed i thought. another team that won conf and won conf tourney. they have a top player (Nick F) and a good program. i thought only WVa shoulda been ranked ahead of them....but nitpicking between 5 & 6 seed is somewhat pointless.

utahst was a close runner up to nevada. another good program IMO. i'd rather see them in there than a less than hot cincy or michigan team. i'm clearly in the minority here on that.

This sounds like a homer rant to me. All the 2 seeds won their conference regular season title (Tenn won their division that contains 2 tourney teams and a 3rd team good enough to win a tourney game & beat a #2 on the road)

All the #3s won their conference tourney except you know who. You know who just lost in NC to a #4, lost to another in December, a third won their conference, and the fourth won their conference tourney and has only lost once in 2 months on the road to a team they just nuked in Dallas. I could argue NC is a #4 and KU should be a #3 based on that alone.

Tenn isn't a #2, but neither is UNC.
