uhh, I'd not care to remember. Tourney committee always seems to think it's cute to have these type matchups against UK. All those tourney games against UofL before they started playing annually, all those games against Utah in the 90s, etc. etc. I'm not looking forward to playing UAB, that's for sure!

I remember the 1st time we beat a good team too. Every year. You probably jerk off to that photo at least once a week. Hey great win, maybe someday your bush league dragons can compete with the big boys on a consistent basis. Until then, try not to go blind living in the past.

Did I hurt your fewlings? :sadwave:

Just to let you know, we also upset Washingtion (2004 NCAA Tourney) that year.

We upset LSU (2005 NCAA Tourney) last year.

We almost danced three years ago (2003), losing to Louisville in the C-USA Championship game. We went 2-1 in the NIT.

I'd say we are "competing" pretty well....thanks. dance2

kirk my boy...unless you are much older than you act, you can't remember kentucky's "1st time we beat a good team".

Just to let you know, Kentuckys "1st time we beat a good team" was an upset over Georgia in 1921 to win the first Southern Inercollegiate Athletic Association basketball championship. Before they upset Georgia they had to overcome Tulane and Mississippi A&M (also upsets). The "play-by-play" was sent via telegraph. I'm sure you were there to greet the team's train in downtown Lexington.

So basically if you want to make a point, make it within reason.

To save you from looking it up...UAB's 1st time we beat a good team. Was in 1981, 3 years after the program was started...we beat Kentucky (again) in March to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. dance2

The next year we went to the Elite Eight...I guess we were competitive then too.....:142smilie

I am a UK fan behind Georgia due to the fact that I grew up there. I do not see UK getting past UAB unless UAB just has a really bad night. The Cats do not play with enough passion to beat this team right now, IMO.

"We almost danced in 2003" :mj07:

"We went 2-1 in the NIT" :142lmao:

Thanks for validating my point. You guys like to take cheap shots when a team has a bad year, but I can sense the envy. UK would've turned down a bid to the NIT, and you boast about going 2-1 in the race for the 65th best team in the land. :142smilie

Your post was elementary. If we win this game who cares? Who is UAB? You should be favored in the game anyway, but I'm sure the line will reflect who vegas has more respect for, despite us having a down year. I'm sure if you knock us out again, I can expect more of the same. You guys have a scrapy team and have one hell of a coach. But guess what: BUSH LEAGUE PROGRAMS ARE STEPPING STONES FOR GOOD COACHES TO GET TO PROGRAMS LIKE UK!

When he is gone you will be back to square one and we will still be hanging banners in Rupp Arena. You guys will be coming in 3rd place in a weak ass conference, and bragging about the time we beat Kentucky and almost won the NIT.

Until then, try to have a little class about yourself. You're giving your fans a bad name. :142slap:

Perhaps I didn't write my post clear enough.. This is our third consecutive trip to the big dance (should be fourth see NIT). We upset Wash, and KY in 2004, we got LSU in 2005, and we are aiming at you again in 2006.

UAB's program is only 28 years old. We have danced 13 of those years.

I like my school and I'm proud of our brief history. I'm sure you are proud of the racist past and corruption (see 1998 sanctions) of your school.

good luck, don't bet the line.

Zona has a better chance than UAB.

We have a chance vs Kentucky, but UCONN will crush us like Zona did last year. I will however have one bracket with UAB in the sweet sixteen, but only one.

I have Zona winning one, but they could have an "eye" up on Nova. Good coaches make good teams in the Tourney and you have a good coach.

Hey Scott, I mean BLAZER4UAB, there is a name for programs whose fans get really excited about their chances of winning one game in the tournament......................... they're are called mid majors. Congratulations buddy, you've finally made it. For the record I picked UAB as a sleeper team and respect what they do on the court but you can't expect to post this shit and not get called on it. That fastest 40 minutes in sports might not go by fast enough for you Fri.

Wow the Cats fans come out in droves. The same ones that will call for Tubby's head whether he loses to UAB or UConn. Eliteists, can't be happy with anything, but will stand up for the Cats, whether they have any argument at all.

:sadwave: Cats, I am rooting for you though.

I'm a grad of UK as well, but seriously, do not feel good about our chances. UAB will be getting after it, and if our guards handle the pressure and Tubby manages a good game, we'll have positive results. But don't think so. Going to Cheetah III in ATL :moon: for the 790 the Zone radio station party Friday most of the day. Any Madjackers going to be there? May start a different thread. Entertainment ,adult beverages, NCAA hoops, the UK boys get together.....ahhhh, heaven. moon1

Hey C-A-T-S I'm a UAB fan.

I'm not that stupid...I know we are a Conference USA team and I am glad just to be able to put on our dancin' shoes.

I enjoy the opportunity to talk trash when I can. You know Kentucky is down this year and with the way UAB plays we have a chance to create major matchup problems.

Please realize all of this is written with a grain of salt.

It is hard to display a level of sarcasm with only the written word.

that being said.....in my best Howard Dean voice....

UAB to the Final Four Baby! Were going to take down Kentucky, then were going to beat UCONN Yaaaaaa, then were going to Washington.....driving thru Illinois, and moving thru North Carolina Yaaaaaaaa!

I gotcha Blazer. Like I said, if you weren't playing us I would have UAB winning atleast 1 game, probably more. It seems like some of those guys have been there forever. I can't believe they beat UK with such a young team 2 years ago. I don't think Nolan Richardson will be invited to Tubby's practices this year after that spy job he pulled last time. How stupid do you have to be to invite your opponent's family to your practice? Good luck man, well, you know what I mean.
