i haven't posted any plays in over a week. as i stated in another thread, every year i shit the bed during the conference tourneys, then rebound and do very well the first weekend of the ncaa tourney. the first part of that held true again this year. i should have posted, just so you guys would have had some nice fades. anyways... hopefully the second part will continue to hold true this year as well.

wichita state (-3) 3 units. seton hall, after a great stretch in the middle of the season, was extremely unimpressive to finish the year. the first big east team bites the dust.

winthrop (+7) 3 units. did you see the reaction from bruce pearl when the seedings were announced? even he was shocked they got a #2. don't get me wrong. he's a great coach and they had a very good year. but they really struggled to close out the season. i don't see them getting too fired up to play the eagles. this wintrop team is no joke though. they won at marquette, and lost at alabama by 3 and at memphis by 10. and their attitude was not "we were just happy to keep it close." it was "we wanna see these guys on a nuetral court." tomorrow, they get their chance.

nc wilmington (+2.5) 2 units. gw probably got screwed with an 8 seed. but if they don't forget about that and focus on playing some ball, they're gonna be out of the tourney before they know it. the seahawks are solid.

uw-milw (+2.5) 2 units. i loved the panthers in the tourney last year. in fact, some of the largest wagers i've ever made on basketball games were on them during their run. i was going nuts during the bc game. man, i remember it like it was yesterday. anyways... this team is very similar to last year's team. and they're completely different. gone is bruce pearl. they're playing a different style. but i still think they have enough to get past oklahoma.

texas a&m (+1) 2 units. i felt all last week that syracuse's run was going to end. i really can't figure out how they won ANY of those games, much less all 4. for the most part, they really did not play well. their big guys are finally becoming more active though. but i am incredibly stubborn... i will take the aggies to finally stick the fork in gmac's college career.

utah st (+6) 2 units. this is really an anti-washington play. i don't see any reason why the aggies can't hang with them and keep this very close, if not actually win the game.

good luck smitty. pearl is the lone reason i could not pull the trigger on winthrop. the guy has an uncanny way of having his teams ready to hunt for bear when it matters most. it wouldnt surprise me to see the vols roll by 10+. but its a very dangerous game and by that very same token, a winthrop outright win wouldnt tilt the world off its axis either because theyre legit.

gman, i hear ya. and i was hoping you'd chime in on that game and the uw-milw game. :) as much as i respect pearl, they really lost their way late in the season. they may squeak out a win here and then go on a decent run to justify their #2 seed. but another big factor for me was the way the line nosedived right after it came out from 9.5 down to it's current 7. you can't tell me THAT many people hammered winthrop at 9.5. i'm wondering if this is the lowest line ever for a #2 seed in the first round. i have to believe it is.

love milwaukee's team. don't particularly like their draw. i have a lot of respect for sampson. these teams are a lot alike in many ways. tigert is a poor man's bookout. it's going to be like watching an intrasquad scrimmage because both teams are going to be trying to do the same things.

as for tennessee, youre right. they went in the tank to close out the year. but their lame play coincided with their clinching of the sec east. pearl is still building a program and im not completely surprised they reverted back to being the 'old tennessee' after they tasted some success. losing early in the sec tourney might even help them get some more time to get refocused. i just dont see pearl not having them ready. but youre right, a lot favors winthrop here.

duhh...I meant 4 in a row. Temporary brain freeze :dizzy: We both can be prepared for a Syracuse #%$&^They seem to get me everytime too. Think I've sworn them off at least five times this season :mj07:

day 2....

northern iowa (+4) 3 units. the panthers didn't exactly finish strong, but i think the time off will actually do them some good. besides, it's becoming obvious that the missouri valley was a tougher conference than the big east this year. :)

george mason (+4.5) 3 units. michigan state has been a huge disappointment this year. i'd rather skinn was playing for george mason, but when you punch a guy in the nads, you deserve your punishment. i just hope it doesn't end up like last year, when chris paul's low blow hurt wake forest.

kent state (+6.5) 2 units. what the heck, i'm gonna continue to go against the big east. i don't think krauser has gotten any better over the last 2 years. pitt is really not playing their best right now. kent state has a pretty solid senior point guard (can't think of his name right now), which i always like when looking at these dogs.

bradley (+7.5) 3 units. bradley finished the year fairly strong. obviously, so did kansas. but i think kansas' win over texas may actually hurt them here. they were hoping to get revenge for a few weeks, they actually got their shot, and they beat 'em. now will this young team be prepared to play against the bradley braves? if they are, i will tip my cap to them (and bill self, in particular).

bucknell (+5) 2 units. it's strange, but this almost seems too easy. i'm treading lightly here.

oral roberts (+12.5) 2 units. jumping on the oral train here. a solid dog here. i think memphis will get a little oral, then they won't be able to focus the rest of the game. :)

is it just me, or am i a little heavy on the dogs? good, that's the way i like it. c'mon, that's a powerful lineup i've assembled.
