OK a little background:

Wife totaled car last week. Sucks, but it was getting old and we were going to try and make it last to the end of the year, just have to speed up the process. Anyway, I have wanted a truck for awhile, don't know why, maybe its because I am from Kentucky or maybe that I moved to South Carolina... So my question is, for those of you that own trucks, what do you have, how do you like it.

I am looking at used:
Toyota Tacoma's 2002
Mazda Truck 2002
Nissan Frontier 2003

These are the ones I have found, but am not ruling anything out. I am not to keen on Ford or Chevy pickups for some reason, but could be swayed.

Any advice out there?

I have a 05 Silverado ext cab. The only problem I have had with it is the roof flexs when there is a strong crosswind on the expressway. I had it in 3 time and because it didnt happen when the tech drove it they said there wasnt anything they could do. Customer service was the same way.

Other than that I love the truck. Plenty of pulling power for hauling my car trailer and sleds. The ride is awesome. Mine came with a Bose stereo system..would never own another vehicle without one.

What do you plan on doing with a truck. Are you going to hauling/towing things or is it just going to be a driver?

Would mostly be used for driving, possibly moving furniture/stuff several times a year, and possibly pulling a fishing boat. I don't need heavy duty truck, which is why I was looking at the Toyota/Mazda/Nissan, they are smaller trucks, get better gas mileage, and since I don't need it for heavy duty, I figured I could save the money there.

Hope this makes sense, I am getting drunk. :sadwave:

I would say look towards a 1/2 ton p/u with a regular size bed. The ride will be smoother. Its also nice to have the extra room in the bed when you need it.

To save money on registration just put the lightest plates on it. In Wi they go by the weight of what you are going to haul (not pull). Mine are good for up to 600lbs (or something like that). Always haul more than that and have never been stopped. Plates are $30 cheaper each year.

Try out a bunch of different types/models of trucks before you make a decision. Its a good way to kill a weekend.

I have an 05 Dodge Dakota. 4x4 with the V-8. Very happy with it. Had 2 Chevy S-10 before this and would say the Dakota is definately a better truck for me. More room and a better ride. Also has the Infinitive sounds system to make the work commute more enjoyable. Good Luck on your truck selection.

1-Ton Chevy Dualy Gas powered.

Also have driven a 1-Ton Chevy Duramax that i absolutely would get another one if possible.

Both trucks are company owned but i might be getting another one within the next year, 150K miles on the one i got now so maybe i can talk to boss man about another Duramax.
