Went to bed whining last night as I crossed the Hawkeyes, Spartans, and Jayhawks off my Elite Eight bracket sheet(actually had Kansas in the Final Four) :mj15: Thoughts of winning any Tournament Card have all but vanished but my first round wagers survied the knockout. 10-6 on straight wagers and .500 on teasers and halftimes. Today is my biggest wager of the Tourney, and when I say big it's an increase from one unt to one-and a half units :mj07: Incidently, anytime I increase a wager the results are @80% in the books favor :s4:
I'm really impressed by the way Brian Randle and Jamar Smith have stepped up for the Illini. The slack in scoring output by Dee Brown has to pick up today, and if Randle can put the clamps on Brandon Roy (or at least hold him around 20) I look for an 8-10 point win for my home team. Brian Randle is the key for my win today. If he can stay out of foul trouble and maintain his scoring points I like my chances. Look for Augustine and the boys to have the edge on the boards. Kind of like the under in this contest too. Illinois is 15-5 under in last 20 games at a neutral site and 6-2 in their last eight NCAA games, while the Huskies are 11-5 under in their last 16.
Grabbed Tennessee last night at BetJam @-2 and see it's up to -3 this morning. A soaked Coach Pearl won't have to sweat this one (instant curse) SEC will rule (can't say that too many times) the Valley today.
And of course every March Madness has it's first round of top teams that play like chit, dogs that win outright, last second shot winners that eliminate your card hopefuls, and matchups that look totally out of whack. This is usually my biggest downfall. Vegas now throws out a line that has you jumping up from the table and placing your bets before you even begin to rationalize how the great city was built. I fall for it every year. My offshore account can vouch for me. Duke laying 9? WisMil getting 7? BC, who layed an egg giving up 11 to Montana who shocked the betting world by knocking out Nevada? And my favorite, Gonzaga and Indy, two teams that don't really deserve to be here right now (imo) snatching the victories from the jaws of defeat @3? I imagine the betting public west of the Atlantic and east of the Pacific will shrug the darling Zags off as just having a chit game and dominate this lowly Hoosier squad (and they probably will!!) I just can't watch Mike Davis on the bench if it's a close one. He has to have the UGLIEST SCOWL this side of John Cheney. Oh well, give me the coachless team plus the three Alex. :scared
Ill -2
Ill/Wash under 142 (half unit)
Tenn -2
GWash +9
WisMil +7'
Mont +11
Ala +7'
Indy +3
Enjoy another day of Madness!! And keep the ROLAIDS close by :mj06:
