just only get away with rape on the court....

ATLANTA (CNNSI.com) -- Duke signee Shelden Williams and Oklahoma signee De'Angelo Alexander have been named in a rape complaint in Columbus, Ohio, according to a report in The Oklahoman.

Both Williams, the nation's No. 5 senior according to TheInsiders.com, and Alexander, a top 30 senior by some publications, attend Midwest City High School in Oklahoma. Three other Midwest City basketball players are also a part of the rape investigation, according to the report.

A 19-year-old woman filed a report with Columbus police on Sunday morning alleging Williams, 18, Alexander, 17, and Matthew Kemp, 17 forced her into sexual conduct at the Columbus Hyatt Hotel at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning while two other players watched, according to The Oklahoman.

The Midwest City team was in Columbus, Ohio, to compete in the National Hoops Classic basketball tournament.

No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made. However, Columbus police have questioned Williams and Alexander.

"Detectives are looking at the case at this point," Columbus police spokesman Sherry Mercurio told The Oklahoman.

Williams, Alexander and Kemp are all starters on the Midwest City basketball team. The other two players have been accused of "being in the room when it happened and are part of the investigation," Mercurio told The Oklahoman.

All five players have been suspended from the team pending the investigation. Williams is a 6-foot-9 forward and Alexander is a 6-5 guard.

Midwest City is Oklahoma's top-ranked team in 6A and has been ranked in the top 15 nationally

The headlines were huge. The implications were bad. Newspaper accounts out of Columbus, Ohio, in January 2002 reported a 19-year-old woman's accusations against five players from the visiting Midwest City (Okla.) High basketball team. According to the official police report, the accusation was rape.Williams was among the accused. Big headline

We were in our room getting ready to go to bed, and someone came in, and things got out of hand, and then Coach came in and broke it up," Williams said in a telephone interview.

He declined to elaborate, but said he still hopes to attend Duke and has been in contact with head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

"I talked to Coach K. He told me to keep my head up, and he's praying for me," Williams said.

Of course, you fail to mention that all charges were dropped when the girl admitted she had made all that shit up. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

The victim decided to focus on school once the court process was explained to her. She may have decided not to waste her time since there may not be enough evidence, and since only Shelden out of the 5 isn't a minor, most of them might have escaped harsh punishment anyway.

A 19-year-old Ohio woman who accused three Midwest City basketball players of rape told a Columbus television station Wednesday that she won't ask prosecutors to pursue charges. But the woman's decision doesn't rule out the possibility of charges being filed. Police could still turn the evidence over to a grand jury for consideration...

..."Prosecuted or not, they know exactly what they did, and they have to live with that," she told the television station.

Yes, the college presidents around the country got together and silenced her, I'm sure.

I believe Shelden had a 3.7 GPA in high school (again, I'm sure this was a result of a conspiracy). If you're talking about SAT scores or something, I don't remember. There have been some real dumbasses that played basketball at Duke, to be sure (Hurley, Greg Newton come to mind). Every school, even in the Ivy league, lets a couple of kids slide every year if they are elite athletes. I'm sure all the Texas football players are Rhodes Scholars.
