Natchitoches Louisiana...Can any 1 spell Natchitoches? LOL. They filmed Steel Magnolia (spellingl lol) there on the campus of NW ST. Sydney Thornton #38 played there as well as backup full bk for Franco Harris when they won the Superbowl. Sydney is still coaching football in highschool. Stevens(Always had a new car in college) a RB in 1990 was rookie of the year in the NFL for the Pats but was released 2 years later and could never make it in the NFL again and is said to be running the streets. During the filming of Steel Magnolia, Dolly frequently visited the country bar to dance with all the townies and loved it. Anyway just a note on Natchitoches (Nakatish)

his name was John Stephens-spelled this way. He played extremely well for Patriots and made the pro Bowl in Hawaii his second season. While playing in a NFL sponsored flag football game in Beach sand, he twisted his knee tearing all 3 major ligaments and dislocation of knee joint, when the knee dislocated, it tore his femoral artery, and the kid came very very close to bleeding to death before they could get him to a hospital. He spent nearly 2 years rehab and actually did return to NFL with Miami, not sure what he is doing now, but he was my neighbor up here in New England, was always a nice guy.

I thought it was Robert Edwards who tore up his knee in the flag football game and took 2 yrs to reutrn and barely played again with Miami. Either someone is confused or the stories are very similar.

That injury did not happen to Stephens.
