Memphis has won four straight at home and tonite welcomes the Clippers to town. The Clips are playing their third straight game on the road, splitting the previous two.
Memphis has been known for their defense this season esp. @ home, with an 11-22 O/U record in Memphis. But it is their offense that has been getting them victories as of late. Over their L5 games, Memphis is 4-1 SU, averaging 99 pp/g on 49.4% shooting. They have won thier last four home games by an average of 16.75 points with three of those four coming by double digits. They were able to lock down Indiana Tues. nite, holding them to 35% shooting and allowing 15 or less in both the 2nd and 4th quarters.
The Clippers allowed New Orleans to score 120 points despite outshooting them 55% to 52% from the floor, 90% to 69% from the charity stripe and outrebounding them 37-35. So what happened? They allowed New Orleans to make 12/22 3-point shots and turned the ball over 19 times. That kind of effort will not go over well against a Memphis team that allows 85.4 pp/g @ home and beat the Clippers in Los Angeles by 16 points just a few weeks ago. In that game Memphis was able to hit 56% of its field goals and held the Clippers to just 34 points in the second half.
Entering tonite's game the Grizz trail LA by 1.5 games for the fifth playoff spot out West. The Clippers may actually want to get out of the fifth spot as they would have to play either Dallas or San Antonio in the first round. Going with the hot team tonite.
