Sunny Florida and Naptown
Was that the biggest upset in tourney history. I cannot remember any bigger. Duke beating UNLV wa big but not like this. Forget about first round upsets them are a dime a dozen but for a midmajor to move on to the final 4 is not a shock in my eyes. But GM slayed a huskie team that everyone picked to win it all. I mean they will have a great matchup in the semi's either florida or villanova. They have a great shot to pull of what would be the greatest cinderella story in the history of college sports.

arizona was getting dd to kansas in 97...they were something like 35-1 heading into that game while arizona was 21-9 and finished 5th......kansas was a pretty clear-cut favorite heading into that tourney and it's one of the few games in the last 20 years i thought arizona had no shot of winning....glad i was wrong

think si just ranked it the biggest upset ever in the round of 16

Villanova vs Georgetown

Villanova vs Georgetown

Villanova's upset of GT to me was the biggest upset back in th3 80s. If that game was played 100 times, Georgetown would have won 95...George Mason legimately beat Mich St, North Carolina, Witchta State....these guys are good...they didn't play the "game of their life" today..they played exactly like the other 3 wins...if they played Conn a 100 times they'd win 25 of them...Vill had to play the game of their lives to win...

I guess if you are going strictly by seed # to make the Final 4, LSU was an #11 seed in 1986 and made it. But as far as line/spread upset, not sure.

But looking back at that game now.......Nova had a few NBA players on that them in Pickney and Pressley........so maybe it wasnt the biggest upset....

Then look at the Duke-Unlv game in 1991.......just off the top of my head......UNLV had future NBA's Johnson, Augmon and Anthony while Duke had Hurley(1st rd draft choice), Laetner(sp), Grant Hill.
I know I missed a few but the point is maybe these are'nt really upsets at all based of the talent on the court.........

I think todays game would go down as the biggest in history if it wasnt for the fact than UCONN has been horrible lately vs the spread..........remember the game they lost to Cuse they were favored by 11........

in truth there were much bigger upsets early in the tourney(arizona to santa clara) or teams first games of the tourney (depaul with agguire and cummings)

funny thing about Nova beating Gtwn., Harold Pressley's son played for me this year, Harold is one of classiest guys ive ever met--anyhow, Nova damn near beat GTWN in their other 2 matchups that year, losing one in OT and the other tite until the end ... Nova beating gtwn. wasnt such a shock to me, I recall watching that game and rooting hard for them tho--the thing that is shocking is that they shoot what 81% and barely won ... I asked Harold about it recently, and he said "we all definitely thought we could win going into the final"...
