Going against "Joe Public"

Without taking into account all the cappers on this site, I have been taking a poll of any "Joe Public" that I ran into during the course of my work week. I didn't talk to a single person that didn't like both Florida and Lsu to win and meet for the final. They all seemed to be able to recite the names (Big Baby, Noah, and Al Horford...he is a local boy) Based on the fact that the public is usually not correct, I gotta play Gmu +6 and Ucla+ 2 1/2. Not trying to go against any cappers in here, just playing against the public that I ran into this week.

Good luck to all

I agree 100% both dogs are not getting any love from the public and that's why I'm playing them as well. Don't be a square on the two most heavily bet games on the board.

Peace.

im not disagreeing with either play; however, do you think you're getting a representative sample when horford was the class A player of the year in michigan two years ago ... and then you're asking people in michigan who they like in that game? would you expect them not to say florida in that one?

Geo Mason has been under the media spotlight more than any other team this week.It may have been a distraction. If they don't hit a dry spot at some point in this game they aren't human.GL to all of you

G-man:
I did take that into account. I figured most people at least knew who he was, but with Gmu being such an underdog story, I also thought most people would be on thier side as people love the team that not one had there. Also, they beat the Spartans, who most follow around here. It might not be the best sample, but it is what it is, a sample. Your probably right and I appreciate the response.

good luck to all

trying to analyze matchups in george mason/florida is pointless. gmu was outclassed by uconn, they dug themselves a DD hole ... and they still came back and won. they also dug themselves a DD hole against carolina 2 weeks ago and came back and won. so to edludes point -- right now, gmu just isn't human. there are a lot of midmajors that are far better than gmu that are sitting home right now. but they just keep finding ways to win. normally, when a dog goes down DD to a power conference team the game ends up getting ugly. but gmu has twice escaped from the "danger area" (down 10+ to a power team) twice in this tournament. florida is capable of winning by 15. but there's no way in hell that i bet on the gators with the way gmu is playing. its tough not to give both dogs a fair look tonight.

I think a great deal of it matters where your from. I am from the west coast and every news station is running bruin footage day and night, so you talk to somebody out here and they would look confused and say "didnt bruins already win the tournement?" .... just like with SC in football.

I might play the under in the lsu game, but I dont think there is a team playing that played the type of scedule that it would make sense that they made it this far. I mean UCLA should have been knocked out with Bama or Zaga, and the fact that memphis was on full choke mode and could have gotten beat by anybody that night doesnt show that ucla is dominate at all.

GM should have lost to MSU,UNC, UCONN and they should lose to Fla. I read an article on here that said Georgia st. took GM to OT?!?! Cmon, hofstra beat these guys twice.
No one has touted the SEC so I really dont know how good fla and lsu reg season was. But from what I have seen LSU looks dominate and Fla, though they can go on scoring droughts are very good as well.
So I can easily see why LSU and FLA are heavy favs, but again I might be posting after today about how Ucla SHOULD have lost to zags, memphis, and lsu. and How GM SHOULD have lost to msu, unc, uconn, fla

But if GM wins against Fla they are going to win it all. Any team to beat those 4 teams in a row can and will beat anybody.

Thanks G-man, think we are on the same page. Edludes, I was thinking the same thing but all (4) teams have been under the lamp this wk and there is a different kind of pressure on the other 3. Mason has that senior lineup that gets points from all five guys. I look for all (4) teams to have a dry spot today and the Pats are the best equipped to weather the storm ,not having to count on 1,2 or even 3 for points. Plus I like the court side manner of Larranaga, players win games but this guy seems to be in the zone as a coach.

i couldnt agree more on this point. right now, every button he is pushing seems to be the right one. some of his motivational stuff might be kinda cheesy, but he's getting every one of those guys to buy into every word he is saying. he's just as responsible as the gmu players for the patriots being in this spot.

be leery.....gmu might be in for a rough time with the length/athleticism of fla, but more importantly the DOME.

Teams ALWAYS shoot poorly from the outside in a dome and they havent experienced a dome environment ever.

Ask Conn about length/athleticism. Mike & the (Dog) are beating that dome angle to death as we speak. The dog sounds like He's on Lsu & Fla .

my angles are more:

1) dome
2) hype
3) length/athleticism
4) fla better team
5) regression analysis (gm due to play back to form)
6) fla playing it's best bb this year right now
7) no home court any longer

it's not out of questons that gm can play well and win outright, just think they come crashing back (scenario reminds me of marquette in 2003....steamrolled by kansas in the first game sat)
