In what would be an incredibly sexy matchup for CBS, the 2007 National Championship will be:

Kansas vs. North Carolina

Both of these teams will improve substancially next year.

KU will get a chance to get some revenge against its former coach Roy Williams.

Curious to hear some opinions on who you guys think will be playing for the trophy next year.

Honestly, Carolina will be absolutely loaded next year. The only question will be the team chemistry with that many superstars coming in. UNC, by the numbers, has the top-ranked player at three different positions. Wright is the top power forward, Ellington to top shooting guard and Lawson the nation?s highest-rated point guard. Stepheson is the No. 13 center and Thompson is 3rd on the center list. Add that to a seasoned Hansbrough who has vowed to put on more pounds in the offseason and you have the recipe for a great squad. Early reports say that Lawson gets up the court faster than felton did. With the way Roy has had his players buy into his system, next year will be exciting.

I was planning on taking some futures on them but at only +500 there is no way I'm tying up funds for that little of a payout.

Thor,

North Carolina vs. Kansas is too easy! You know it rarely turns out that way. Find a team that is unranked prior to the start of the season. A team that you think will surprise a lot of people. This year's Florida team is a great example. The Gators were picked to finish 5th or 6th in the SEC. Syracuse in 2003 is another great example. The Orange were unraked all season long before going on their incredible post-season run. Kansas and UNC are two of the most talented teams in the country, but so were Memphis, Connecticut, and Villanova this season. Good luck!

If everyone stays for Florida and Texas, these teams will be loaded. However, let's wait to see the early NBA departures before focusing too much on next season.

there should be some VERY GOOD teams next year:

lsu
fla
uconn
memphis
unc
kansas
texas
ucla
arizona
ohio state

come to mind right off the bat

however i'd wait unitl nba early entries, non-qualifiers, and ineligible players are made avail before annointing a title game matchup.

I would think that Texas is going to lose their stars and Memphis will lose at least one of their studs (but probably two)... As for Florida, Noah is a lock to leave...

Which is, of course, why KU-UNC is such an easy pick at this point. Neither team is going to lose anyone of consequance, and both will get a lot better.

I can't, right now, pick out an under the radar team that will have a good chance... but if I had to throw a couple teams out, these would be them: Louisville, Kansas St. (not to win the tournament, but they will surprise people), Pittsburgh.

I don't know. Probably looking ahead too soon... but needless to say, I am very excited about next year, and "Late Night at the Phog" cannot get here for me soon enough.

Texas will lose Aldridge I think but have an absolutely stud frosh class, including Kevin Durant - MVP of McD's game, as well as a stud frosh point guard. Tucker and Gibson will stay it looks like.

Kansas wont lose Self, which hurts their chances!

Actually next year may be a rarity - several quality teams and real question as to who should come out on top. GJN's list is fairly accurate I think. Maybe there will be a surprise team, but gonna be tough to get past all those other ones.

I wasnt sold on this year's Carolina team, but they are adding incredible talent to what they already had. The ACC may be a walkover for them next year which also means a high seed and 4 tourney games close to home followed by a Final Four in Atlanta...

Even losing a stud player Memphis will still cruise and be a high seed.

I know I might sound like a homer, but I think that Alabama will be pretty good next year. The whole team will be back except: Evan Brock (thats a good thing), and Jean Felix.

Im not saying they're final four material but they should be very good. IMO

VT was real young this year and picked to do much more than they did, i think they will be an under the radar team in the acc, which might be depleated next year
Duke will lose 3players, Wake Forest will lose gray, NC State loses their coach and a few seniors, miami loses diaz, Who else is there in the acc besides unc?
