i hope not...i liked the way he ran the ball last year.....

RB doesn't look like 1st-round pick with extra weight, no work ethic

COMMENTARY
By Jason Cole

As the 2005 college football season was winding down, there were some outside observers of the USC team who believed a good case could be made that LenDale White was actually a better NFL prospect than teammate Reggie Bush, Heisman Trophy aside.

On Sunday, any such argument disappeared as Bush put on a fine performance during the school?s annual pro day for NFL scouts. The only thing fine that White did was dining with the Denver Broncos on Saturday night.

White weighed in at 244 pounds, up six pounds from the doughy 238 pounds he displayed at the NFL scouting combine in February. White also did his best not to display much by wearing a loose-fitting warm-up suit for the entire workout. This was after White drew audible groans from NFL scouts when he bared his chest at the combine.

As one NFL general manager said after seeing White at the combine: ?The guy needed a bra, it was ridiculous. You come to the combine looking like that and you want to be a first-round pick? Come on. The guy had obviously been doing nothing.?

On Sunday, White benched 225 pounds all of 15 times. That?s one more than USC punter Tom Malone and nine less than Bush, who White happens to outweigh by 42 pounds. After doing the bench, White called it a day. He didn?t run the 40-yard dash or do any of the other myriad of drills that so many scouts and coaches were looking forward to.

Perhaps this is why so many people are now thinking of White in company with Maurice Clarett than with Bush.

?We had one of our scouts go up and ask him what was going on (after White didn?t run),? another executive said. ?The kid said his hamstring was tight or something like that. Then we tried to find out when he was going to run and he didn?t know. It didn?t even sound like he was going to run. What does this kid think??

This, of course, is why you never heard the argument for White over Bush coming out of USC (unless it was White?s mom or dad saying it). Bush put on his show for the scouts on Sunday, running anywhere between a 4.33 to a 4.40 in the 40-yard. Bush did the aforementioned 24 reps and everything else was in order.

Three scouts and coaches who saw him said Bush didn?t do anything to hurt himself, and the notion that he might fall from the top spot in the draft seemed far-fetched. While it?s possible that Houston will trade out of the No. 1 spot, the thought is that it?s only because they will get a great offer. Not because Bush didn?t impress them.

But the point in all of this is that Bush took care of his business when he could have been the one living off his body of work the past two years. White did not. In fact, he showed to NFL people what so many people at USC have seen since he got there.

Lots of ability. Little work ethic.

?The guy can play, but he just gets by,? said a former USC offensive player who was teammates with White. ?He coasted in practice and he coasted in the offseason. He came in thinking he just had to put in his time and that?s what you see now. People think he?s great and the talent is there ? but the stuff he did was just because he played next to Reggie and with all those other guys around him. If he had really worked at it, he would have been amazing.?

Wow!! That artcile axed Lendale pretty good. I know it's just one article and the quote form the USC player is anonymous, but you can't help but feel some of it has to be true.
I thought White would go somewhere between 15 & 25 in the 1st round. He may fall to teh 3rd if this "lazy" stuff keeps popping up.

watch his clip on nfl all access. Its on www.nfl.com , on the right side. He talks about his times and stuff. He says that his hamstring was really bothering him and he wanted to do everything, but couldnt. He said the reason why he only benched 225 15 times was that he was thinking about his hamstring.

He said he needs to improve his work ethic. The nfl is gonna be a swift kick in the ass for this guy.

I cant dispute that there prob is some truth to the allegations...of needing to focus more on his work ethic ets..but lets not lose focus on the fact the guy can play football...funny how how stuff like this does not come up at all during the season then all the sudden when the draft is approaching and these "tryouts" so to speak and the combine come around one or two guys either skyrocket or drop quite a bit based upon these observations ..if this guy drops to far..some team that had absolutely no chance of getting him will get a hell of football player and then if he has a good rookie season it will be all about how he rededicated himself...LOl..give me a break..

makes you think sometimes as to whether stuff like this is sometimes a smoke screen ..

Its very hard to believe that a athlete on the verge of getting drafted and making millions, would go into a combine at less than his best.

He must be getting bad advise.

Dont give a crap.

Or is just stupid.

Falcons take him in 3 round and let Duckett go. That would be nice.

maybe this restores lendale's reputation...

LenDale reportedly has torn hamstring

'To me, it proves the attacks against me were unjust,' ex-USC RB says

Former USC running back LenDale White will not have any personal workouts prior to the NFL draft because of torn hamstring.

Former USC tailback and NFL prospect LenDale White has partial tear in his hamstring, the Denver Post reported.

"He should recover fine," Dr. Randall Eldridge, White's chiropractor told the paper. "He just needs time to heal. But I could see where he would have been in considerable pain had he tried to run."

The injury will prevent White from having any personal workouts prior to the NFL draft on April 29, and he may not be ready for the minicamp of the NFL team that drafts him, the paper reported.

White was criticized as being lazy after not working out at the NFL combine on April 2.

"This validates that the reason I didn't run wasn't because I didn't want to, wasn't because I was lazy, but because I was injured," White told the paper. "I did everything I possibly could to get ready for our pro day, but I knew something wasn't right with my leg. Now I've got a doctor with 100 percent expertise on hamstrings saying I have a tear. To me, it proves the attacks against me were unjust."
