hans blix says we have plenty of time to take a nice long nap:

‘Iran at least 5 years away from bomb’.

"Former UN chief weapons inspector Hans Blix on Monday said Iran is a least five years away from developing a nuclear bomb, leaving time to peacefully negotiate a settlement.

Blix, attending an energy conference in the Western Norway city of Bergen, said he doubted the US would resort to invading Iran.

But there is a chance that the US will use bombs or missiles against several sites in Iran," he was quoted as saying by Norwegian news agency NTB. "Then, the reactions would be strong, and would contribute to increased terrorism."

""""The former weapons inspector was right in his conclusion that former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein did not have the weapons of mass destruction cited by the United States as a main reason for its March 2003 invasion of Iraq. """"

The Swede said there is still time for dialogue over Iran's nuclear enrichment program, which Teheran insists is for peaceful purposes but the West fears is part of a secret nuclear weapons program.

"We have time on our side in this case. Iran can't have a (nuclear) bomb ready in the next five years," Blix was quoted as saying.

"""Blix, also a former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, urged the United States to take its time, as it is doing in a similar nuclear standoff with North Korea.

"The US has given itself time and is negotiating with North Korea, while Iran got a very short deadline," he was quoted as saying. "The US and other major powers should negotiate, and offer some 'carrots' as they have done with North Korea." """"

this says blix was right about iraq....and that we should follow the template used with n.korea.......????

memo to blix...n. korea HAS nuclear weapons

i guess his answer is,"sit on your hands"....allow the u.n. to twiddle their diddle...

how does he know?...the world was allegedly wrong about saddam...but, saddam hid the fact that he supposedly disarmed(if you buy that argument)...

these are tough issues..the iraqi/iranian situations issues made even more difficult by socio-economic/ideological issues and concerns.... that didn`t apply to n.korea...

wait?...until it`s to late/act?...to destroy or delay iran`s program...that they admittedly will not abandon..and admittedly will use to destroy a u.s. ally...a fellow democracy.....

i wouldn`t want to make the call...

So what if Iran gets a nuke! Maybe they would not want one if it was not for countries like the US who want to bomb and invade who they wish at a drop of a hat. Once Iran gets a nuke all this US tough talk will die down. You don't hear Bush talking about invading China or N. Korea or any other nuke bearing country.

Tehran, Iran, Apr. 05 – The Supreme Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, described on Wednesday the Strait of Hormuz on Iran’s southern shores as “the economic lifeline” of the West and said it could be used to put pressure on Iran’s enemies, state television reported.

About two-fifths of the world’s oil supplies pass through the 50-kilometre-wide entrance to the Persian Gulf.

Safavi was speaking to reporters during the sixth day of weeklong naval exercises in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman, dubbed “Great Prophet”. The general said that the area was of “immense military and geo-strategic importance” and that it linked the seaways of three continents – Africa, Asia, and Europe.

“Many industrial countries are dependent on the energy from this region. Japan gets 70 percent of its oil from this region, likewise 70 percent of certain European countries’ energy comes from this region”, he said, adding that every day the equivalent of 20 million barrels of oil travelled through the Strait of Hormuz."

this...and the threat to wipe fellow democracy israel off the face of the earth....

are good reasons why you can`t let the deranged...in this region of the world...have nuclear weapons...

you learned something today, spy....

my pleasure...
