I think that was a pretty good episode, don't I?

:mj07:

Man, I'm just a simple guy here in Knoxville with a wife and 2 kids. I just want to watch this show and keep it simple but I think I'm going to have a meltdown!

Way too much thinking for me to handle. So I ask for your input and tell me what you think is going to happen or what is happening next.

I mean if Hurley jumps, would that have been the end?

Thanks.

As I have implied all along....never was a crash...they are all looney...this is their therapy....

problem is if I am right they have given it away far earlier than you would expect.....

note how Hurley's friend says "see you in another life" - just like Desmond to Jack.....

Just watched it, pretty good episode. How much longer do you think they can pull this off? I must admit I went a few weeks without watching it and didn't miss it too much.

this might be jumping to conclusions too soon but do you think that "Dave" is an illusion? The doc could have just been talking to Dave for Hurley. He also told Sawyer that the meds were for seeing things. Just a thought...

The Mysteries of 'Lost'

Last week, I asked readers to share their theories on ABC's hit series, Lost.

I hate to break it to you, but I'm just as much in the dark as you are when it comes to explaining the things that happen on the tropical-island drama. What do the numbers mean? How did Sun get pregnant? Why was Locke able to walk after the crash? Who is the real Henry Gale, and who is the guy who stole his identity?

Before we get to your theories, I'd like to share a few cool Lost links I've come across:

The Secret Map: Here's a picture of the map scrawled on the hatch door that was crushing Locke in the March 29th episode. Have fun deciphering!

The Lost Numbers Reference Guide: Here you'll find explanations and theories concerning the ever-present 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. Are they just retired Yankees jerseys?

http://thelostnumbers.blogspot.com/

Lost Links: If it's about Lost, you'll probably find it here. Lost: The Musical? You'll just have to see these links for yourselves.

And now, your Lost theories. Enjoy!

Carol: "Yes, I spend a lot of time mulling over each episode. They will have to take a vote to keep "Gale" alive or not, and this will split them up. I think he was careful to bury all the right stuff. I think the others sabotaged him by placing the driver's license there. He is neurotic and absentminded you can tell by his awkwardly placed "jokes" that the "others" used him as a test case to ensnare in some way the rest of the cast, and we will see that. I liked thinking Sun was a good girl, but she is pregnant by the two-faced guy--the rich hotel owner. Her husband should find some romance with someone else on the island to balance out. Where is the killer/warlord-turned-priest? He had a deep impact on the consciousness of the show, and should be brought up in the moral decisions coming in future episodes."

Jim E.: "All the plane survivors are dead. They all died in the crash. Each survivor has their own demon to face before they can 'move on to the next realm.' The others are angels or something like that and they do things to help the others face their demons, and every time a survivor faces their demon the 'others' take them."

Jennifer D.: "These people have all died. They are now somewhere in between what some people call heaven and hell. All the experiences they are having in this place are related to all the mistakes they made in the past. Now they are being tested to see if they have learned anything from those mistakes; how they deal with each situation decides if they are good enough to move on the next place. The kids are all being taken away because kids are innocent and don't need to go through what the adults are."

Anonymous: "I believe that the survivors of the crash are all in a purgatory. All of them have unfinished business. The people that died on the plane lived there lives to the fullest and went to heaven or hell. But the survivors still have unfinished business. For example, Shannon was never able to fall in love before the crash but when she fell in love with Sayid, she died because she finished her business."

Janice D.: "I'm sure I'm not the only one putting this theory forth. My thoughts are based on a recent scene that showed Locke straightening out the bookshelf and holding a copy of An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge in his hand. In that story the hanging victim lived out a seemingly real experience in which his rope broke and he escaped. I say 'seemingly' because as it turns out, the escape episode all happened between the time that he stepped off the bridge and when he reached the end of his rope (literally) and his neck snapped. Therefore, everything that is happening on the show is taking place in the passengers' minds as they plunge toward their deaths in their crippled airplane. I know this is not very original and I pray this is not how it really ends. It would be very disappointing."

Connie N.: "I think that in the very last episode of the series, the camera will be close to Walt's face, showing him sleeping. As the camera pans back, you will see that he is still sitting in his seat in the airplane and the entire thing has been the dream of a small boy."

David: "I have a theory regarding all of the strange happenings on the 'mysterious island' of Lost. Magnetics are a major reason why so many things have been happening on the island. I'm thinking that Dharma Project was experimenting with ancient alien technology that involved magnetics. The magnetic fields that emanate from the experiment's core are what control the 'black mist' creature, which is made up of either microscopic robots or highly magnetic metal bits. Magnetics have also affected the people on the island somehow. Perhaps the magnetic, microscopic robots can restore some people to health, depending on their blood type or DNA. The 'Others' are likely the last of the original research team involved in the Dharma Project and were left to fend for themselves. They need young, healthy subjects to continue the magnetic experiments. Maybe the others have been affected by the magnetics in a negative way. The Lost survivors have been affected in a positive way. Negative and positive aspects keep the island in balance."

Bryan: "Honestly....it's a magical island...and anything can happen...Locke being able to walk after the crash...Sun getting pregnant...all of these medical mysteries you though couldn't be fixed are now fixed. Libby told everyone that she was in the back of the plane that crashed...if you go back to season one and look at the last episode where they kidnap Walt...Libby is driving the boat."

Shannon: "I could go on and on about my theory about Lost but let's stick to the most recent one. Why is Sun pregnant? I don't think she cheated. I think it's the island. The island seems to poses some sort of magic (or maybe the ability to see what the characters want to see--i.e. Sun wanted a child, Locke wanted to walk). I think the island is the reason the impossible is happening."

TK: "I basically think that it's some sort of behavior study gone wrong with a mix of unknown/mysterious/amazing coincidences. The 'Others' are scientists or were scientists and pretend to be a lot less intelligent then they really are. As for why they wanted to kill Claire for her baby, where Michael is, what Walt's up to, etc., I'm clueless. Remember, Walt is supposedly different or special--this whole thing could possibly be in some way linked to him. We pretty much know the guy in the vault is an 'Other'--it's obvious. I think they put in a lot of stuff just to completely confuse you (the monster 'security system,' voices on one part of the island, etc.). Also, the fact there are so many coincidences with the numbers--Hurley, the French woman, the hatch--I think numbers may have more meaning. After almost two seasons, there's still a lot of mystery--but that's what keeps it so entertaining."

Like the Show a lot. Didn't see the Libby thing coming...There was a picture of an Island beach in the Doctor's Office.

I'm waiting for Bobby to wake up and it's a dream (Dallas)

loved it when hurley beat the snot out of jack.
i still think its something to do with purgatory.
at least now the shows give you a little substance. now its a little better than soap operas.

The writers/creators have already said some time ago that it isnt purgatory and they arent dead. One of the few comments that have been made.

If you presume even a hint of reality to the show, there is no way they would have survived a crash with a plane traveling at 500 miles/hour at 35,000 feet splitting in half. It's just absurd. As is all the conincidences and intertwining of teh characters.

But the purgatory themes can work just the same - these are folks undergoing "group behavioral therapy" in a unique way. Could i be wrong? - sure. But tell me what makes else makes sense unless this is pure made up science fiction? Dreams, etc have all been done - no way they do that.
