So when was the last clutch hit for the Cards?

1985? And was it Vince Coleman, Willie McGee or Jack Clark? I'm kidding obviously, but for a team that is supposed to have a stellar offense watching these guys hit with runners in scoring position is painful. I like Pujols and Rolen a lot but the other guys certainly aren't anything to write home about. Speaking of not hitting in the clutch, I wonder what Edmonds' average is with RISP? He seems to be an almost automatic out in that situation.

And in case anyone is wondering I don't have money on the Cards today, I actually took the Brewers because the Cards burned me twice in the Cubs series and I think Mulder is a great fade. Now that I've said something they will probably storm back and put up 8 next inning... :mj07:

Well, well, well, whaddya know... as soon as I say something the Cards put up a 2 spot. Touche Cards, touche! Although they still couldn't get a hit with RISP. Not saying a sac fly isn't good, but man, they really struggle mightily with runners on.

By the way last night, Rolen's 2-run homer was with 2 outs and Pujols 2-run single was with 2 outs. These are considered clutch hits in my book.

Yeah, Rolen can rake. That's why I said in my original post that I like both he and Pujols, but not really anyone else on the team. Jim Edmonds is pretty awful with runners on. He's lucky that Rolen bailed his ass out. And LaRussa is lucky too. You sacrifice with Encarnacion so that the Brewers can take the bat out of Pujols' hands to get to Edmonds??? Wow.

Like I said in my earlier post, I like Pujols and Rolen. They are GREAT players. However, overall as a team they have struggled with runners on. There was also a lot of sarcasm in my original post as well. Either nobody got that or they chose to ignore it.

As for not saying anything because I had the Brewers... sorry man, I don't believe in jinxes. If you honestly think saying something during a game can actually affect the outcome I don't know what to say to you.

Wow. Didn't realize I was going to piss so many people off with my observation. A lot of Cards fans here I take it? They came through with some huge hits today, I tip my cap. And Mulder hitting a home run like that, even though I'm on the other side that's pretty awesome. I love seeing a pitcher who can actually swing the bat. I wish the Cards would have done this the last two days when I bet on them to beat the Cubs. Oh well... congrats Cards backers.

The last key hit was in 1985. Vince Coleman got hit by some sort of turf machine that knocked him out of the post season.

Congrats Supafishel. Did that ninth inning give you an ulcer though? :mj07: That Cards bullpen certainly likes making games interesting. I'm still reeling from the last two Cubs games.

The bullpin for St Louis really sucks. If we don't get that
2 run HR, this game would be tied right now. Last night
they blow the game, they tried to give it away again today.
I had Stl and Under, should have won both,

Agreed x2man. Even Izzy is struggling. He's definitely not the best closer in baseball or anything, but he's usually much better than what he's been showing. The rest of the year if I take the Cards I'll probably just take them in the first 5 innings. Anything can happen with that BP.

Izzy definitely has some problems right now. Watching the game last night, he couldn't locate the ball and fastball was clocking at mid to high 80s. I almost had a heart attack today watching Izzy pitch (i was cool he got bombed last night since I played the Cubs)...but today man..... phew!

Quaggy, I've won plenty of bets from Edmonds hitting the ball up in the stands. He is a stud, IMO the heart of the Cardinals.
