Can the Royals pad a bankroll just a little simply by playing against them on the RUN LINE throughout the rest of the schedule?

Some early numbers that may or may not mean anything....But man oh man does this club have a dark and gloomy look to it.

2003 Tigers
43-119
Team avg. [.240]
Team ERA [5.30] Of the 119 loses 17 were by 1[one] run.
11 first half/6 second half[please correct if wrong

2006 Royals
2-9[apr.19]
0-6 on the road
Team[ ERA 7.20] :scared :scared
Team Avg. 2.40
2006 [0-6 on the road]
2-9 verus run line..w/ all loses by 2 runs+

NEXT 3 at CHW

today
Kansas City Royals
J. Mays +1.5 +137 +285 OVER 9.5 +108
05:05 PM 972 Chicago White Sox
J. Contreras -1.5 -147 -315 UNDER 9.5 -118

Chic./Clev./Minn. possible dog fight for Central certainly sets up Royals as whipping boys.
Interleague play might help Royals[Pitt./Cinc.] but St. Lou and Hou. should be tuff.
Outside the Central those battling in the East will be more than willing to thump the Royas[ie Yanks]

If those in the know could post the {ROI} for Det. on the runline for Det. in 2003 I for one would be interested.I seem to remember a member here fading them and posting results.Sorry for not remembering his name.

This Royals club has all the looks of just a pathetic team.[Apologies to KC fans}
If Mays and Redman can't give them some inkling of a quality start here and there for the 12 Million $$$ invested in them there isn't in $$$ in KC to buy a save a diaster pitcher.

Just food for thought..

Thanks for taking the time to post this Old School. Great stuff! FWIW, I think the 2006 Royals will win more games than the 2003 Tigers. Sanders, Stairs, Mientkiewicz, Grudzielanek, Graffanino, and Bako are all veterans who have won in the past with other teams. During the tough times, these guys should provide the necessary leadership to keep the younger players' heads above water. Also, don't forget, the Royals are without star closer MacDougal right now. When he returns, they should actually win some close games. Finally, your point about KC becoming whipping boys for Cleveland, Minnesota, and Chicago is a valid one. However, these three teams will go at it so hard when they play each another, that they might not have any intensity left to bring into their series with the Royals.

Granted the Royals have endured a terrible start, but this team should also improve if Greinke and Hernandez come back. However, Bautista is already injured and the rotation is currently paper thin with an awful bullpen (Wood, Dessens, and Burgos have looked decent at times). I think KC will manage to win at least 50-55 games based on an okay lineup as Wise & Wiser mentioned above. Keep in mind, the pitching staff has faced a hot Detroit club, White Sox, Yankees, and Tampa Bay hit the ball decent against them.

Sweeney is also hitting awful and he won't continue hitting .100 for the year. Still, KC is by far the worst team in the AL.
