I would rather pay a tax and get some benefit from it than pay these outrageous prices and fund some greedy ba$tard oil executives retirement.

Yeah, look into price gouging Bushie Boy. I am sure it will be hard to find. Knowing this administration they will most likely go after some little guy that runs a gas station. No way the shrub will be going after the big guys. His base, if you will.

Bush not to blame for oil prices? Does he have, or ever had ANY IDEA OR THOUGHT TOWARDS A ALTERNATIVE. has he encouraged any thought towards alternatives?

Isn't Bush a supporter of drilling ANWAR? Also, there has been a huge surge in hybrid vehicles during his watch. Not that I think he deserves any credit, but hey if he's getting blamed for negative things "during his watch" might as well throw in some false positives, too.

I don't think Bush has done an outstanding job, but I also don't get spitting mad and lose control of rational thought when I think about him.

Now on to a lighter note. I saw a bumper sticker at church the other day that made me shake my head.

"As a former fetus, I am definitely against abortion!"

Some people are just weird.

I don't think anyone with half a brain would actually blame Bush for causing the storm/Katrina. But same as 9/11, his response was delayed & 2 Little to late. But most annoying is his cocky "I'm in control folks" attitude he gives people and the shit lies he throws around "great job your doing down here Brownie". Ya great job--

Carter or Ford, you kidding me Garden?? Bush probably the only person in America that finishes behind Vince Young in the wonder test. Bush rates more like studdering John giving a speech. Saying same stupid phrases over and over again.

am i mistaken......

doesn't bush favor drilling in alaska ?

don't get me wrong....

i'm as disillusion in our gov't. as anybody else...

GW, do you really think that Karl Rove is not capable of getting a message out? Wake up and smell the coffee. These guys blew it.

it`s a little difficult when you have the comtemporary version of "floyd the barber"disseminating your message...

how`d i forget that chimpy was rove`s puppet?(and war for oil..and bush went into iraq knowing that there were no wmd`s...so he could hang himself out to dry..the war was for haliburton...yada yada).....

sorry..i forgot the talking points....my bad...

seriously, if cheney ran the show,i doubt that rove,or anybody, tells him how to run anything....

say what you will about cheney...he`s nobody`s puppet(haliburton aside ))....

i mean,he even shot that lawyer himself...my kinda` guy...

it`s cheney`s way,or you get tied to the hood of the car....

Hey GW, Cheney can shoot all the republican lawyers he wants but what does that have to do with your claim that the administration cannot get their message out?

yeah, that or you find yourself and your family crashing to earth in a mysterious plane malfunction in norther minnesota. Cheney is hardcore, no doubt. ....But, what makes you think he hasn't been running the show anyway? All indications are that Cheney has pretty much been the prez all this time.

Maybe your right though, with Cheney we'd probably be in the final throes of Iraq insurgency by now.

DOGS THAT BARK said:
"Now back to that 50 cent tax increase that 'the dems' and Kerry were trying to push through?"

---The bill in question was on promoted by Dem Sen. Charles Robb in 1993, to increase the gasoline tax 10 cents per gallon each year for five years. True Kerry never voted for it because the Rebs knocked it down before it could be voted on. Did Kerry support it? Depends on which flop and period of time you catch him--but per his quote to Boston Globe after the Rebs shit canned the bill---

--One Boston Globe news story from 1994 quotes Kerry as complaining that the Concord Coalition's scorecard had not rated him highly enough as a deficit-cutter: "It doesn?t reflect my $43 billion package of cuts or my support for a 50-cent increase in the gas tax," the Globe quoted Kerry as saying.

So you tell me Matt--did the Dems and Kerry support a 50cent gas tax?

Robb supported it. If to you that means the 'dems' tried to 'slip it through', then fine. Gas was 1.01 at that time. People are begging for 1.51/gallon pricing today. Whatever the case, that stuff from 12 years ago is hardly relevant and certainly less relevant than the much more recent comments by Bush's top economic advisor.

You didn't seem to have a problem with him advocating a 50 cent increase 5 years later when gas was at 1.76. Or you probably just missed that part of it.

-- Kerry Has Never Sponsored, Cosponsored or Voted for a 50 Cent Gas Tax Increase. Sen. Charles Robb introduced legislation in 1993 that phased in a 50-cent increase. John Kerry did not vote for or co-sponsor this bill. (S. 1068, Introduced 5/28/93)

-- Bush's top economic advisor backs a 50 cent per gallon increase. In Fortune Magazine, Gregory Mankiw, President Bush's Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, argued that a 50 cent gas tax is a necessary component of income tax cuts. He explained that "cutting income taxes while increasing gasoline taxes would lead to more rapid economic growth, less traffic congestion, safer roads, and reduced risk of global warming--all without jeopardizing long-term fiscal solvency. This may be the closest thing to a free lunch that economics has to offer." (Fortune, 5/24/99)

dawg, I believe your correct he favored drilling Anwar. But doesn't everyone agree oil s time is coming, same as coal & wood before that. If you want to ignore the clear signals around everywhere regarding climate change, then realistically what would oil still have anyway 50 years? So we can go on being junkies to the Arabs for another 50 years, or start getting going with alternatives.

There are endless scenarios the president could initiate to get science moving this way, regarding tax breaks etc. for the already fluttering auto industry. Your correct, there are some viable hybrid products available today, this is only proof of their necessity! Government is in no way encouraging or initiating these avenues, in fact quite contrary. Therefore --- I regard the presidents actions (or lack of), and --- allegiance with big oil, as part of the problem, not benefiting or encouraging solution. Therefore simply because it is his watch, I can't logically assume crediting him as such.

I mean, Hell the Boston Red Sox also finally won a world Series on his watch also, I didn't send gw a card.

Well, you should have let him know about it when the Patriots didn't win it this year. I mean, c'mon, he didn't do anything about that??? What a deadbeat he is.

Garden, not sure if this is directed at me Sir or not, but I'll be happy to have at it. Frankly, honestly I don't find it funny at all, not humorous but pathetic, embarrassing. Since step one nothing but one big embarrassment. And you know something, even after the Florida fiasco, and we all know exactly what that was about, admit it or not, Everybody and I mean everybody, whether or not he was deserving, was staunchly behind him after 9/11, EVERYONE. he and we as a nation could have accomplished probably anything. Did he come forward right then and lead like following pearl Harbor? America was galvanized and ready to be led. If Bush said then everyone now sacrifices and we starting today rid ourselves of Arabian oil, everyone would have sacrificed. Instead he coddled his Saudi friends and got them safe passage out of the country. I've seen nothing accomplished, the man has had everything his way, Senate, house, now Court, what has he accomplished?? Nothing, just embarrassment.

You know my friend Garden, guys like you think its fun and entertaining for people like me to sit around and tear this idiot a new one, quite the contrary. I never had a bad thing to say about 41 or Reagan or lots of republicans I've voted for locally here in Massachusetts.

Like everything else in his life, he was handed the presidency through the back door did he deserved it? Debatable. But the whole Florida embarrassment could have been a foot note, what has he accomplished? Obl apprehended yet? Iraqi any better than 3 years ago? From what I hear of New Orleans not much going on there. Brown, Tennent, Card, Scooter, Scottie, just one insufficient fool after the next fired. But at least gay marriage is safely at a distance now, thank God.

I seriously hope Hillary doesn't get that chance, because deserve it or not she won't get the chance George had. Like you just stated, people already waiting to tear her up. George had the entire country in step, behind him ready to take orders, with the house and Senate.

How would you compare gw against FDR following pearl Harbor?

I'm not going to TGIF to eat - I'm going for a fight in the parking lot. I may go in and have a drink afterwards, but that's yet to be determined.

Whose threatening you, Gee-Dub? I'll take care of this 'pebble in your shoe' for you. Between the favors still owed me from a few of Mayor Goodman's henchman and the fact that we all know AR is actually Henry Hill, I think we can guarantee your safety.
