Does anyone know who sings the song played in arenas that everyone claps to, yells....HEY! , with a lot of percussion in between? It's played in all arenas and stadiums after wins and is from the 60's or 70's I think......Sorry for the lack of info, but the only words I know of are .....HEY! that the crowd all yells. Thanks

Imagine, "a sports day without pedophiles". Who knew Gary Glitter was actually making a political statement in Thailand.

just don't tell your kids who sings it:

In 1999, Glitter was convicted of child pornography offences classifying him as a sex offender under UK law. He went to live in Vũng T?u in Vietnam in March 2005 and applied for permanent resident status. Glitter is currently in prison in Vietnam, convicted for sexually abusing two girls of 10 and 11 years of age, after being arrested on November 19, 2005.

you should get a copy of phish playing it - then you don't have to worry about the Gary Glitter controversy (what a name anyway) and it's a much better version too... ;)

Hey Happy Hippo, thanks for the advice. I know quite a bit about it and have about 550 bottles in my cellar, mainly Calif. Cabs and Bordeaux. Love great values as well, so not into the $200-300 dollar bottles. Great for celebrations, but I have maybe 25 of them, that I bought in the 90's for much less than that. Fav bottle in my stuff is an 89 Haut Brion, have 3 of them, drank one, AMAZING! Also have '97 Special Select Caymus, 2 of them, had 3, AMAZING! But, everyday quaffer is Estancia Pinnacles Cab, great value. What about you? Edited....having Estancia as I type.

i'm a wine rookie - just started drinking it exclusively (as far as alcohol goes...) a year ago because of some stomach problems... the grapes are good for that

i went wine tasting last fall in healdsburg - sonoma county where some of my friends live and i bought a lot of wine there - i especially enjoyed the wilson winery and their Blushing Flamingo Merlot & Petite Sirah and the Armida winery was good particularly their 2002 Scharf Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

in france i went to an island where there were very few cars and most of the island was a national park and the few people who live there grow wine - the vineyards were beautiful and the wine reflected them - domaine de l'ile, porquerolles island - their rouge was great

but thanks for the info - i'll try your favorites out for sure - i still haven't found my everyday quaffer yet and i'll have to try some more bordeaux, too...

i completely agree that the expensive bottles are too much to justify except in extreme circumstances - i like to stick to the middle range....

enjoy the wine - you've inspired me to have some too!

Stayed at the Healdsburgh Inn in the Square last fall...great place to take a lady, Madjackers. Rooms about 180/night, but romantic for the lady for sure, and walk to great restaurants in the square and 20 wineries within 3-5 miles for tastings. Man Hippo, your wines are more boutique wineries, hard to get wines, but when there I always get 3-5 cases and mail home. Favorite small winery is Hendry.... Cabernet/Merlot/petite verdot blend, right next door to Opus One. Same soil, same sun, same weather, 1/6th the price :grins:

wineguy -- since this is your thread, i guess we're not hijacking it with wine questions.

where are you in Atlanta. I used to work in a restaurant there that was listed in the Wine Spectator as one of the best wine lists. The owner has since closed doors. Tiburon Grille was the name in the Highlands. I worked there as I was getting my business off the ground several years back.

I am a whino on leave for now. My wife and I were really into the wine scene until we had our first kid and she quit working. Now the budget has made me a beer connoisseur. But I have had a lot of fun with that as well.

If you are still in Atlanta, I'm there quite a bit. We are throwing our annual party again on June 10th. Draft on Taft <http://www.draftontaft.com/> right across from Piedmont Park. It's a great time if you've never been.

IO-- sorry to throw out all the wine jargon....trust me, it is just a hobby and keeps me thinner than beer and vodka would. Thanks again for your answer, I see you are king of pop. Were you ever a DJ or in a band yourself?

dawgball---definitely will be at Piedmont Park June 10th. Is it across 10th St or Piedmont? I'll check the website. Was going to go last year, but something came up with the kids, can't remember. They will be at camp that week. I live in Grant Park. The old chef/owner of Tiburon on North Highlands has now opened a restaurant on Memorial Drive in the Grant Park area called Redfish, a partner of Agave in Cabbagetown. Really good food, not a ton of wine now. Hope that helps.

Greg's a good guy. It's across 10th on Charles Allen right behind the high school. The street will be blocked off.

Get my email from Jack if you want to try and meet up that day. I'll be there all day probably working the money tables.

Absolutely! Two years ago we had about 3400 people, last year it was blazing hot so attendance was down to about 2400. We expect a big turnout this year.

Our record is 119 kegs! We are shooting to top that this year.

Moe's Burritos is catering this year, too! Much better than what we have served the last couple of years.
