Imitation is the best form of flattery! :142smilie

Cubs now have a "private" lounge in the center field bleachers.

Looks like another year where the ol' man Maddux may be the best pitcher on the staff.

I believe Dusty started the "Maddux retirement" talk before the season ended last year. :mj07:

Dusty now has ready made excuses for his time managing the Cubs this year his whole tenure. Still has many out in the great beyond that think he can still manage without a steroid freak carrying him on their back. Rumours have him at Zona next year.

Possibly they could pick up Jermone Walton and Dwight Smith for the O. Mike Harkey and Jef Pico would solidfy the rotation!

It's gotten so bad that Ronnie has started talking to Sparkie while doing the radio call.

Sparkie is the picture of a little dog some old fan sent him that he has been taking to the booth when he does the radio call for every game.

It's starting to get vicious in Chi-town. The cubs fans are heating up the airwaves. It seems the public is resigned to suffer through this year of Dusty, then he is gone.

A scape goat is starting to form. His name is Hendry.

"It's hard to find someone who's off work, who doesn't have to work during the day. If we played night games, maybe they could come over after work."

Mailbag: Still hope for the season
Cubs beat writer Carrie Muskat answers fans' questions
By Carrie Muskat / MLB.com

I know we're only about a month into the season, but the Cubs are falling out of the race fast. Could we see a trade soon?
-- Jonathan F., Nashville, Tenn.

Teams aren't going to part with top caliber players this early in the year. It may look grim, but last year, the Houston Astros were 18-32 on May 30, yet rallied with a 16-9 June and reached the World Series. It's a cliche, but the baseball season is a marathon, not a sprint.

What is wrong with Mark Prior? First, he has the flu and then, food poisoning. Are the Cubs running out of excuses on why it's taking so long for him to recover? He has a strained muscle, not a torn muscle. Why is it taking so long for him to get healthy? He is 25, not 52. Is there a bigger problem here?
-- Adam R., Des Moines, Iowa

:142smilie :142smilie :142smilie

Prior's bouts with the flu and food poisoning were not excuses. Those things happened. As to why it's taking so long, the only answer I have is that the Cubs want him to be 100 percent healthy with no chance of setbacks or reinjuring himself when he does return.

I've noticed that players such as Juan Pierre always wear their socks up, but this season, Todd Walker seems to change the way he wears them day to day. I was wondering if this was a superstitious thing with Walker.
-- Katie F., Chicago
:mj07:

There's no rhyme or reason for Walker's dress code. "It's a feel," he said. If he goes 4-for-4 with his socks up, they'll be up again the next game. If he has a bad game, he might change and drop his pants legs.

I don't like to get into coulda, woulda, shoulda's, but wouldn't Nomar Garciaparra's .360 average and 21 RBIs look nice right now? :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie
-- Jason G., Mesa, Ariz.

Yes, he would look good in the Cubs lineup, but would Garciaparra have been happy sitting on the bench for the first month of the season? Garciaparra is playing first base for the Dodgers. No one could've predicted Derrek Lee would get hurt.

I have a daughter whose name is Addison Grace (named after Addison Street and Mark Grace). With a second child on the way, any ideas on names so I can stick with the Wrigley/Cubby theme? My wife has already tossed out "Clark" and "Ivy."
-- Jamie C., Ankeny, Iowa

Actor/comedian Bill Murray named his son Homer Banks. Don't know if Sheffield or Maddux are options. Does your wife like "Ernie?"

Cubs beat writer Paul Sullivan gets a beat down by Cubs VP Andy McPhail for an article about center fielder Jones. Thought that Jones reaction to the fans was not what Sullivan wrote about. The article stated that Jones ripped the fans after being ripped on the field. This was a few weeks back before the mighty fall of late. Sully writes for the Tribune, which owns the Cubs. Sully thinks the beating would have never happened if the Trib didn't own the Cubs.

Sh*t organization that has time to call writers into their offices for this crap instead of keeping their eye on the ball, which is the Cubs. :mj07:

The powers that be are in FULL damage control.

The Vice President/General Manager, Hendry, went on the air waves a week ago. Tonight, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the show Andrew B. MacPhail doing the tap dance. dance2 Both having a strong tendency to keep bringing up the Stro's comeback recently. :142smilie It's not all down the shitter :sadwave: Keep bringing that coin Cub's fans :mj07:
