My wife and I have an opportunity to go to Bermuda June 6-14. We are ticketed and have reservations at our resort.

Now, who here at MJ's has been there? We're wearing out the Internet checking on dining, shopping and looking for activities to do on the island.

My main goal is to hopefully split a charter with someone and do some fishing. Other goals would be consuming intoxicating beverages, a lounge chair on the beach(with towel so I don't look like "zebra-man" when I get up) and consuming great seafood!

Any input is appreciated.

Your fellow MJ's brother,

nol, been there couple dozen times. mostly golf trips. port royal one of the best if you play..for some reason fishing is not very good there. few charter boats.. best thing to do is rent a moped and explore the entire island. dining is not cheap..if you want a memorable evening go to romanoffs downttown hamilton. fourways inn also very nice, and, tom moors tavern.. best beaches are in southhamton...where are you staying ???will be able to give you more advice depending on which end of the island you are on...

nole, bermuda is not known for great seafood, again, not a lot of local fishing, however, make sure you try the fish chowder, served with dark rum and sherry pepper sauce.make sure you bring some sherry pepper home with you, can buy at the airport. my wife used to sell it in her gift shop, i still cook with it most every day !!

Good stuff new redneck.

I'm stunned that fishing isn't more popular. Bummer!

I'm not overly excited about the moped thing. I'm figuring the locals will use me for target practice. It appears that opening a moped rental place would be a great idea. No car rentals.

Thanks for the dining tips. Got them wrote down and will visit each one.

Southampton Fairmont was sold out so we're staying at the Hamilton Fairmont downtown.

I love to cook so I'll check out that sherry pepper. If you need me to pick you up a bottle or 2, let me know and I'll mail to you when I return.

Thanks again for the advice. I look forward to more of your info.

I'll need a few boxes of Cuban cigars, you can smuggle them in your suitcase. Don't worry customs won't find them. :SIB

as mentioned above, The Fourways Inn is the best restaurant on the island. Don't miss it (reservation needed for sure).

Man, if I had anything to report, I would have written. 590, 560, 550, right around there. I shot 1711 All-Events. Very fair shot. Just some untimely 10 pins and 7 pins. Get 3 or 4 in a row and then get tapped. Didn't win crap as far as brackets go. My partner shot 660 in Doubles. Glad I was there to let him down! Ugh!

I just cracked 40,000 total pins knocked down over 24 years at ABC/USBC. I should break 100,000 pins when I'm 99 years old. :mj07:

Take it easy B.

nole, played golf today with a good friend i met in bermuda 15 years ago. he is the one who introduced me to where i live now in s.c. anyway i told him about your post and he reminded me of a few things..lunch in hamilton, you want to try hog penney pub, just a few doors up from the main street opposite the cruise ship docks..also you can take day trips on the ferry if you don,t want to moped.. ferry from hamiton to dockyard 1/2 day easy.. also bus sevice is very good, be careful about taking a cab everywhere, $$$$$$ you will find this out when you leave the airport...departing flights leave in the afternoon, so on your last day, check out early, take a cab to the swizzle inn, a must ! then take a cab to georgetown, a few miles past the airport this is where your wife will buy her perfume !! i noticed that rominoffs is not on the web page, may be gone, but check it.. forget tom moors, 30$ cab ride each way from where you are staying.. day at the beach, horseshoe bay probably by bus.. p.s. the sand is pink ! been thinking all day about the great times i had there. not too easy to fly from here, we used to fly from boston, 2 hours, at our condo by noon !!the fairmont used to be called the princess at the southhampton princess there was an entertainer named jimmy keyes , if he is still there find a way to see him, you will piss yourself !!!he was there for years, and we saw him on every trip.....hope you report back, you have me thinking it is time to get back there...

new redneck, thanks very much for your help. I DID call back and had a wonderful agent with Fairmont on the line. The only night not available is the 8th. So what I have booked is 6/6-6/9 at the DT location and then 6/9-6/14 at the Southampton! I didn't see staying 2 nights at Southampton, check out for 1 day, and then return back on the 9th.

Looks like cab fares are going to kill me. They won't allow luggage on the ferry(as you already know I'm sure).

Gotta go right now. I'll check back later.

Thanks again.

well done my friend !! you will know it when you are there !!

Now that I'm home, listen to this. Fairmont has a deal going with AX. Great rate if paid with AX card and $50.00 food and bevarge credit each night. $400.00 towards the cause! God knows I'll need every bit of it!

Now, on to making dinner reservations! All the nice joints require a jacket and tie. Works for me!

My wife is stoked!
