worthless in proportion to their salary, or worthless in overall performance
Beltre is truly a waste of both
In terms of salary...as a Red Sox fan, my vote goes to Keith Foulke
While he looks a "little" better than last year, Papelbon seems quite the bargain at $330k as opposed to 8 million for a guy who aint even the closer any more...

BleedDodgerBlue said:this thread needs no more discussion. the answer is Jason Kendall. No one else is even worthy of discussion. He's the most overpaid piece of garbage in the history of baseball. yes, history. go back 150 years and you will never find another candidate that fits this bill better. he's a joke. he should be banished from baseball. he should be hung by his testicles and apologize to all fans of baseball for ripping them off.
Kendall checks in at a cool $11,492,454 salary for 2006. That's right A's fans. Why do all your pitchers go away. Because you sign fcknig morons like Kendall to big contracts. So what do you get for 11 million plus. How about so far this year a robust .225 average with 2 extra base hits. none of which were home runs. has he ever hit a ball past middle infield?
How about a full season? Last year he made $10,571,429. What do you get for that? lets see....how about nothing. a typical power spot in the lineup at catcher you get a .271 hitter with 0 home runs and not one clutch hit.
All the naysayers can argue he leads the league in not striking out. So the fck what. If he taps the ball directly to an infielder instead of striking out, is there a difference. And don't forget he throws like 1 in 30 baserunners out. The runners trip somewhere along the basepath too for the ones he gets.
He's a complete disgrace to baseball, and the position of catcher. The A's caught a break in his 4 game suspension. They won't lose once during that time. When you rid cancer for 4 games even, the effects are amazing. Then we he comes back, watch as the team will slump again.

BleedDodgerBlue said:you are correct. he did throw out 22 runners last year. too bad he also allowed 101 stolen bases for a whopping 17.9% of throwing out runners. worst in baseball by a longshot.
